Sometimes the performers do well, other times, the judges (and viewers) can tell when their hearts just aren't into it because they got stuck with a song they didn't know, or didn't care to sing. David Cook has so far stayed away from performing any song that isn't in his "wheel house" in terms of style and vocal range, he's minimizing his risk when he goes hunting for a different spin on the song if necessary. That's just from knowing who he is as a musical performer, and using the resources at his disposal. Other contestants don't seem to be as resouceful this season.
Choosing an alt-cover might not be seen as a big risk to you, but performing it to a crowd unfamiliar with the alt-cover is a big risk, one that might alienate the voters watching the show if it just doesn't go over well.

OK, I give! You all wore me down. On to more important things:
Will this week be the week Kristy Lee Cook does a Haley Scarnato and starts showing more of her, uh, talents in a desperate attempt to survive?

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Kristy is quite fit, just due to her youth and lifestyle if not genetics. Still, she doesn't seem to have much up top to reveal. She'd be more productive to focus on her singing.
I've been curious... once you make Top 10, what practical difference does it make if you come in 7th or 5th? Is it just that it maintains your illusion that you can win longer (Kristy isn't winning)? Or maybe that you get to perform in front of a huge audience another week?
Do the eliminated contestants we see in the audience get their bills footed by AI, or are they there on their own penny?
Bring some type of captioning to internet streaming.

Kristy not that hot? Nothing up top?
Looks pretty damn good to me:
How much do you want up top? This:
No thanks. I'll stick with Kristy.

There's always the possibility that when one contestant leaves that another contestant will pick up some of those votes for the next few weeks. That said, I think that the top three or four contestants are pretty obvious and KLC has no chance of winning. Remember, some of these people will be getting recording contracts out of this whether they win or not.

Mostly it affects the HTF American Idol Top Ten Challenge.

I can't get past the fact that she's 4'10". Too child-like.
Now, if Ramiele were 5'6" and the same proportions, then I'd be with ya.

IMO, I would rather hear her sing it than Fantasia (I never liked the tone of Fantasia's voice or her inflections (i.e. yeah-yeah-yeah at the end of all her songs)
|
Amen. I never understood all the love for Fantasia.
I enjoyed all the performances tonight with the exception of David C and Carly. David just seemed full of himself tonight and Carly did sing angrily, which wasn't fitting for tonight's theme.
I agree something seemed to be bothering Brooke tonight. I hope she doesn't go home, though, as she's my favorite.
For as goofy as it was, I did kinda like Jason's SOTR. Definately wasn't up to par with Kat's rendition, IMHO.
Archie sang well, but damn, when he's not performing he needs some confidence in his body language.
I'm guessing Carly goes home. Which means she's probably 100% safe since I suck at predicting these things...

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Carly was terrible - she needs to "go on"...
David A. - blah
David C. - pretentious again - WTF was with blatant Sharpie on his hand??!!
Michael picked the wrong song but it was "aright"...
Kristy hit a homer tonight - she finally showed off her great voice (and body)
Jason was OK and nice but seemed to be in a coffee shop yet again
Syesha - umm - what the hell did she sing? I can't remember... oh yeah that sucky song by the way overrated Fantasia - never was a fan of her either at ALL - I'll never understand why she won...???
Brooke babbled another cover... inflection for inflection like James Taylor.
Hopefully I'll get to watch (and drool over) Kristy again next week.
