Re: American Idol - Season 7
Hanson,
I dont know if I ever commented but I look forward to your comments every week. Love the separated at birth and have forwarded it to many.
Didn't Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod in The Fifth Element wear some sort of rose collared outfit during the opera scene ? I couldnt find an image in 60 seconds of google image searching, but I was thinking about that when I saw Carly's outfit.
We also find the tat's completely distracting. I told my wife its like someone took a dump on her arm and it just ran all the way down to her wrists, and make no mistake, she'll be covered in them in 5 years. Take a look at that crowd shot of her family/friends.
A new life awaits you in the off-world colonies, the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure.

Let's Go . . . To the colonies !

To be fair, David did say he took it directly from the White Snake version, I don't think he even implied it was his own. Otherwise, I agree with your point - there have been contestants in the past that have not given proper credit to the arranger when they effectively sing a cover version.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
I'm actually shocked, but you know what, it's weird how your support dries up when you don't act humble, and practically beat on your chest and scream "I'm using AI as a stepping stone, so I ain't listening to no one, and you have to take me as I am!" Oops. If just a hint of humbleness had shone through, the AI top 10 tour would have been yours.
You know what I'm really tired of on elimination night? I'm tired of Brooke trying to look sad and despondent over the fates of the bottom 3 while sitting in safety. She does this for the entire hour, no doubt for the cameras and to show concern for her fellow contestants. It comes across as insincere to me.

I agree on this, though the voice box was total cheese. My wife and I both yelled out "oh no, don't do the voice box!" when he started.
I think Syesha could sell records too. She's hot enough and has a decent enough voice for the image/styling people (the music industries most important poeple today sadly) and engineers to make her marketable.
As for the rest of them, I like David A.'s voice, but find the rest of them totally dull.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Patrick, I couldn't agree with you more on both counts. Usually when contestants openly defy the judges, particularly Simon, it comes back to bite them in the ass almost immediately.
Remember when Jennifer Hudson ended up in the bottom 3 the week before she went home. She kept rolling her eyes and laughing as if, "What the hell am I doing here with these losers?" She was probably the most talented of all the contestants that year, and her attitude got her sent home the following week, not Simon's criticism, as is often erroneously attributed to her getting the boot.
Regarding Brooke, I saw that mess tonight, with her bottom lip visibly poked out as if feigning sadness. Everything about the girl seems insincere and phony to me, and I'm glad you mentioned it tonight, Patrick. I'll say it again, she makes my skin crawl.
Glad Amanda got the boot tonight, as I don't believe she deserved to do the Idol Tour. Sure, she was different, if you consider not being able to actually sing and looking like a clown being different. Unfortunately, we're still stuck with Kristy Lee Cook, who didn't deserve the Idol Tour either. But if I were a betting man, I'd bet everything I own that she's out of here next week.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
I sure hope so, Mike!!!!
I am beginning to wonder about Brooke as well after what I saw of her this evening up on the double-decked sofa.
I am sorry. But Kristy Lee Cook did NOT deserve to stay on ahead of Amanda Overmyer--nor did she deserve to stay on ahead of Asia'h Epperson, either!!!!
And I suppose I am one of the rare HTF members here who liked Amanda and dug her all along. IMHO, she had a certain kind of fire that just is rare for not only this show, but also amongst younger signers today, as well.
Never before have I been as disappointed and offended simultaneouly with an elimination as I was with THIS one!!!!!!!
America truly blew it with this call!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Acid Queen Still Rocks and Souls!!!! ;D

Re: American Idol - Season 7
The thing I did like about Amanda was that she was not afraid of being on stage and just letting it rip, no matter how it sounded. That sort of bravado is sorely lacking in so many of the rest of contestants this season.
