Re: American Idol - Season 7
Did anyone else watching (listening) to last night's elimination show in DD 5.1 notice that the mixing was way off? On my Dish Network broadcast the surround channels were emphasized to the point where it often sounded like the performer's mike was either turned down or off. This disappeared during the commercials (some of them are also in HD and DD 5.1 surround) and wasn't showing up on other stations at the same time when I checked. It really seemed to be some sort of mixing issue being caused at the source (AI7) and not any local settings at my end, especially since it looks (sounds) like it was only occurring during the live AI7 broadcast.
Comments?
Thanks.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
By the way, last night's show -- to me -- was just excruciating. The ridiculous movie promotion, the endless cutaways to Jim Carrey, the utterly stupid call-in segment with people asking questions that we've already read on the big board since it's all pre-screen and pre-scripted. That was just completely dumb. Here's to hoping we never see it again. Of course, I said that about the Finale's first annual Idol Awards, and they were back again last year. And then to top it all off, let's bring back the girl who LOST to Taylor Hicks and then was also dropped from her label. Hey, there's a good reason to tune in before the last two minutes to see who got bumped off.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
The results show should be by DVR only. I don't think that's even up for debate.
I don't think the Jim Carrey segments would have been as excrutiating as they were if he were still funny.
Here's my list of good L/M songs for the contestants:
Girl
Don't let me down (Chikezie)
Rain
Two of Us
Anna (go to him)
Dig a Pony
And I wish Amanda would do Run for your Life (less misogynistic coming fom a woman)

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Anna is not a Len/Mac song.
Amanda would be good doing OH DARLING, Hey Bulldog or Don't Let Me Down.
Kristy could do a country take on I'M A LOSER as it has a country flare as is but I doubt anyone would want to sing a song with those lyrics on a vote in show!
A short list of songs that I would like to hear covered:
P.S. I LOVE YOU
THERE'S A PLACE
NOT A SECOND TIME
I SHOULD HAVE KNOW BETTER
THINGS WE SAID TODAY
I'LL BE BACK
NO REPLY
BABY'S IN BLACK
I'LL FOLLOW THE SUN
WORDS OF LOVE
And those are only from the 63-64 era.
sheesh they sure did write a lot of good catchy pop tunes

I'd like to see Kristy step up to the plate and do Yesterday. I think it would suit her vocal range. She had an excellent audition but we haven't seen anything really good from her since - except her looks.

Yup, noticed both of those. I thought it was pretty hilarious that Danny was Ramiele's "best friend." How long have they known each other?
I was kinda disappointed that we didn't get to see Sanjaya on stage doing something wacky.
McPhee looked like they spent all her food money trying to promote her failed album.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
I just wish they would quit with the Beatles crud. I must be the only person in the world that doesn't think that the Beatles were the "best thing ever" or that Lenin Lennon was the second coming. Hopefully they will get their fill of jollies this week and move on along.

And if I remember correctly, even during the audition shows, she only performed well when she sang Amazing Grace. She sang Amazing Grace in the city search, then she had a bad first audition in Hollywood and went back to the well with Amazing Grace and got sent through.

A Ozzy Osborne/Black Sabbath night might really move you over the edge then! LOL!
Dont worry, they got Mariah Carey week coming up for you in a couple weeks and a DIVA week after that so you should be all set.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
It's all about ratings. They get millions of people to sit and watch their network for an hour to hear a 5 second announcement.
The performance program is incredibly bloated too with silly segments, contrived comments between Simon and Ryan and pointless questions to the singers, among other things.
It's nothing new and people will watch a half to an hour or more of pre-game sports coverage too and it's also 99% filler, as is local news.
The only way to watch the results show is with a DVR or by tuning in at 2 minutes before the end of the program.

Re: American Idol - Season 7
Yeah, Rick, I'm sure you've got Chris's number. He doesn't worship the Beatles, so he only likes diva crap. Well, I won't speak further for him, but I love Sabbath and Priest, as well as the Moody Blues and the Beach Boys (contemporaries who blew the Beatles away), and can appreciate some of the Beatles music, but I won't be erecting an altar to them any time soon.
