Re: Lost: Season Four

My one disappointment, as another said, was the black smoke. Ben's daughter is killed, he snarls "they changed the rules" and unleashes the black smoke. Everyone's worried, you hear crashing and gunfire, and they dash off.

This episode, we learn that the Black Smoke -- feared for three seasons, heard clanking and clanging before dragging people off underground and held at bay only by some strange superfence -- sat down for tea with the mercenaries, chatted about family, and then sent them merrily on their way.

I think that's an oversimplification. We don't know what happened between Smokey and the mercenaries. He might have looked at them in the eye, much like Locke or Echo, and deemed them to be worthy or living. Maybe the island won't let them die.

(I do like the tea and chat idea, though. )

Though I tend to think it was a continuity error, maybe there will be an explanation for that. It'd be one thing if there was a flashforward from a previous episode where you saw Jack without a scar but it seems odd that no one would notice the missing scar when it's the same episode and they almost seem to deliberately show that it's not there.

As I have stated right after the previous post on this subject, Jack indeed HAD the scar, exactly where it was supposed to be, in the "future scenes."

Re: Lost: Season Four

^I know you said that earlier but I watched the episode again over the weekend at a friend's house on small-ish TV and I still didn't see it. So after reading your post, I watched the opening scenes again on my HDTV and I did see it that time. I do see how people have missed it though.

Re: Lost: Season Four

It's understandable how it can be missed - I only look for it because I have the scar myself

Re: Lost: Season Four

I have seen every episode but for the life of me I cant remember Sawyer having a daughter. Could someone please refresh me in a sentence or two about the details of this. Thanks!

Re: Lost: Season Four

^Yeah, he has a daughter named Clementine. In the flashbacks of Every Man For Himself in S3, Cassidy (the woman that Sawyer ran cons with and eventually conned in The Long Con from S2 and Kate also met her in the flashbacks in Left Behind from S3) told him that he was the father when he was in prison. He didn't want anything to do with the kid but when he got reward money for helping the government locate stolen money, he anonymously put it all in a bank account for his daughter.

His daughter was my initial thought about the promise but since they've mentioned his daughter in one episode and never again, I don't think it's that.

Re: Lost: Season Four

thats right, totally forgot about that. thanks. Actually, I bet it would be that. Sawyer probably wouldnt want Jack to know about it so maybe that is why Kate is hesistant to tell jack

Re: Lost: Season Four

Just curious...How does everyone think the show will end?

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.
