Re: Lost: Season Four

I am REALLY enjoying Sawyer's character. My favorite on the show by far. I love where he's come since the first season. Back in season 1 someone in that thread made a great point that he was a caricature more than a real person. All bad, all me, all the time. He still always seems mad, but its great seeing how he cares about the other losties now...
Shooting Tom - "That's for taking the boy off the boat",
Putting his life on the line to make sure Claire and Aaron were safe,
Threatening Locke if any harm is done to "one curly hair" on Hurley's head,
and many more.

Yeah, it's something I noticed too. Especially this season where although it the "real world" Sawyer and Hurley are natural antagonists to each other, they've pretty much become partners in Locke's camp and they've come to have a genuine, although "odd couple" friendship. And the threat he made to Locke and Ben about harming Hurley in any way was a very nice moment for Sawyer.

What I'm wondering is why Widmore isn't out and about "playing the game"
(on the boat or in other places, actually trying to find Ben and the island)

Widmore is pretty much just sitting at home.

Just seems kind of strange.
I'm thinking there has to be more to the whole Ben/Widmore playing game by the rules.

This Season 4 has been EXTREMELY AMAZING

Re: Lost: Season Four

Maybe because it is a 'Game'? A giant sized, world as the playing field game of hide-and-seek.

Played between two super rich individuals; Ben and Widmore.

We might find that this was a wager made at a country club cocktail hour.

The only thing that makes me think this is the fact that Ben did not hesitate to say yes to the $3.2 mill request from Miles. So he's rich too.

That's a popular misconception that has been cleared up by Lindelof and Cuse in an interview. ABC said that a six toed statue (as it was in the original script) was too weird and they recommended it have four toes instead. They also said it would be explained eventually.

- Walter.

i think were he came from was cold.
ben definitely did a "jump/teleported" when he was coming out of it he was shaking
as if he was in a seizure.
also the logo on the jacket, have we seen that one before.
it was an odd shape in the middle of a continuous swirl.

i'm not sure these are just a couple if rich guys.
widmore mentioned it was his before and will be again.

i get the impression that both of these guys have been around
a very, very long time and have been fighting for a long time.

ben called the smoke when he went into his room.

I just noticed the three names have a candle theme

Marvin Candle-Candle
Mark Wickmund-Wick
Edgar Halliwax-Wax

Yet another mystery!

Sometimes I really miss my firewire equipped HDTV tuner. Screencaps were so easy them. Anyway, here's a photo of halliwax's jacket, and the logo.

Hmm. This may be a very old observation, but the dharma logo has breaks in the border. Almost like "I Ching" trigrams.

Seem (somewhat) plausible?

Re: Lost: Season Four

ok that's probably the logo for The Orchid station.
looks like the middle of an Orchid i guess or the Time Tunnel.

i don't think anyone including Ben can go ack in time.
also not sure anyone in the show can time travel at all, just jump or teleport to other places.

To answer your final question, no. The island is required for time travel (if that's in fact what is happening). Widmore is looking for access to the island. Without it he has no way of sending mercenaries back in time.
