Tell Me You Love Me - thread

Ok, so who watched this besides me and my wife? I had heard that it might make some couples cringe so I went into it with some trepidation and I am pleased HBO has another great show on their hands. It was at times hard to watch but my wife said that we could see ourselves in all three couples, guy makes stupid comment, couple having fertility problems, and couple who seriousy need to reconnect.
There was some great acting all around and I cannot believe HBO showed balls, literally, some good sex scenes that I could not believe. Penny, from "Lost" has a meaty role as as part of an infertile couple and Ally Walker does a good job as the neglected wife. This one I have set a seasons pass to.

I know enough to know I don't know enough!

I like the show and I agree on the quality of the acting. A great deal of it was very sincere. However you touched on exactly what bothered me about the show....the constant sex. I get it. These people fuck and they do so quite a bit (or in the case of the couple with kids not at all). I don't need to have it shown to me constantly for an hour for the sake of being "edgy". I'm far from a prude mind and I /LOVE/ that HBO is pushing the envelope. It was just a bit too much for the run time of the show. They need a bit more of a balance and I hope that's what we see in the coming weeks.

I didn't think there was all that much sex, and when they did show it it didn't last that long. I thought most of it was actually important to the development of the characters. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you get your wish Romier and we'll see that as the season goes on we'll see less of it.

All of the explicit sex scenes involve prosthetics. Explicit oral and even penetration is in store for future episodes.

Im not interested. Couple troubles doesnt interest me.I dont know, it just seems like another show aimed at 30 something frustrated women. And I dont understand the fascination with therapy. HBO has yet another show about a therapist, with Gabrielle Bryne, coming out soon(about a therapist who needs therapy).

I love Gabrielle Byrne...but does Showtime know about this? Isn't that the exact plot of that Hank Azaria show 'Huff'?

I loved it. And as far as the sex scenes go Californication can be reclassified as tame.

I have a season pass setup on my TiVo, but will likely save up 4-5 before I decide to jump in. That way I can skip it if I hear that it sucks and if it's good, I can watch a whole block at a time and not have to wait.

This is certainly a unique show with some excellent performances but it's not really my thing. Whether it's great or terrible, I don't think this is a show that will have much of an audience and just like John From Cincinnati, it'll be cancelled the week after its season finale airs.

Damn, this show made onscreen sex boring. Quite a feat.

The dialog and writing in this is terrible. The first episode had something to start on.. and this thing just went right to the crapper. The acting is passable, but the characters themselves are just not very well thought out.

It's funny that wh
