Actually, I think it perfectly fits with one possible reading of the Cylon evolution. The Cylons were heavily experimenting with the "human aspect," as seen in the Hybrid scenes during the Husker flashbacks (and Razor), and I think it's perfectly fine to consider they were close to perfecting the lookalike tech. Further, it plays into the notion that "they have a plan," in that they quickly end the first Human-Cylon War, and appear to withdraw, all the while, having placed a few spies in the colonies (Boomer, etc.) who then bide their time for decades, while the plan falls into place.
However, unbeknownst to the Cylons, the Five (or at least four) have also penetrated the colonies. Perhaps they will be the balance to the scale, a relationship that has already had its share of problems, with Sharon and Gina (and Six) having their own glitches.
Maybe that's why Tigh is such a bastard. The colonies are pretty massive, and it's not completely impossible for an old prick to bum around the fleet effectively middle-management, and not have a soul notice that he isn't aging. Perhaps there's something also to be read into in the fact that Adama, Tigh's close friend for years, hasn't noticed anything. Is he too blinded by friendship?
Lots of questions and interesting story-threads, but I don't personally think "Tigh isn't aging" is the so-called mistake or suspension of disbelief a lot of people think it is

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4
I'm glad everyone is more than a little suspicious of Starbuck's return, and I hope we get a good explanation. The brand-new viper is the weirdest clue, it does seem to me that there may be a third party involved here. Perhaps it's the one the Cylons refer to as "God"?
Baltar's cult seemed fairly plausible to me, all things considered. I'm definitely curious to see where that storyline is headed.
All in all, a good start to the season.

I really need to re-watch the entire series to date, but IIRC, weren't there flashbacks to a young Adama with a young Tigh? So that's something that needs to be addressed, but I would imagine the answer is simply that humaniform Cylons do age, and on 'death by old age' they download back into a new body which is already a twenty-something adult (by human standards), no different from death by unnatural causes.
Great start to the season I thought.

There were indeed scenes of a young Tigh early on (first season?). The producers have said that these 4 who were revealed to be Cylons do not function the same way as the 7 we have seen.
When was the Cylon war? 50 years ago? More? Tigh has to be 55 or so on the show, so Cylon technology must have advanced at an early stage for them to have "created" him.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4
RDM has said the final five are "fundamentally different" from the other human-form Cylons. I think they are actually the Lords of Kobol and have been around for thousands of years (dating back to at least the time when the temple was constructed on the algae planet).
Thinking they are in any way like Six and the others, or were created in a similar fashion, is, I believe, fundamentally wrong.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4
Is it possible they were "body snatched" at some point with their memories transferred to Cylon copies? Though the Lords of Kobol thing sounds cooler.

IIRC, at the opening of the entire series, they did say that the armistice had been in place for 40 years. Not sure how long they had fought before the armistice, though, so if it had dragged on for 10 years 50 would be right.
But that means both Adama and Tigh must be well over 60, since they had to be at least 20 when fighting in the last days of the 1st Cylon War.
David has an interesting take on it. Might tie in with the fact that Tyrol's father was IIRC a priest of some sorts.
