Rick - we seem to be in the same place as to our feelings about the show.

At this point in the story with Earth within their grasp, I was hoping, naively, that differences would be restrained and a collective focus being put towards that effort. I don't mind tension between the humans and Cylons but the infighting within the groups, especially the humans, is very tiresome to sit through. It would be like watching the morning and evening news every day.

Every man is my superior, in that I may learn from him.

Isn't that part of the point though? The infighting? Here they are in the middle of a situation that is so new, surreal, difficult, and uncertain. It would be abnormal for there not to be so much infighting.

Ugh. BSG hasn't been right since that silly Buffy writer joined IMO.

Anyone else screaming at their TVs: "Tell Adama!"? That would have been interesting.

But no. She steps into an airlock, with her baby, in what is probably the most contrived piece of drama I've seen in a long time.

I find myself not caring for any of the characters anymore. Baltar and Cavil aside.

I've too much invested in this series not to watch to the end. But frack, what a comedown.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

I think the last shred of hope the humans in the fleet had was when they found food last year, everything else was grim grim grim more or less. Actually, maybe it was the opening of Joe's Bar after that helped

I can't imagine being in a particularly happy mood if I was one of the characters in the month that transpired between the premiere and this episode. Think about it, 600 + people were recently erased from the survivor count. Hope in something has to be intermingled along the way to break it up, just as with balancing action episodes like the second one. I kind of view this episode as a necessary evil to move things on. Probably the next one too given how bold Baltar seems to be becoming.

She spent years pining for Tyrol while he boned Sharon. When it turns out Sharon was a Cylon, Cally shoots her down and continues to moon over the Chief. The Chief beats the hell out of her, and she crawls back and asks him to marry her. And as we learned in this episode, she wished he'd slap her around some more.

The girl is broke.

And then she learns that the love of her life is a skinjob. She's not going to tell the Admiral. She's going to snuff herself and her half-breed kid.

Well summed.

I know it sounds pretentious, but some people just "don't get it."

Pretentious, and ironic.

As someone already put it, "frack me!"

Must agree I'm getting tired of the Starbuck-Anders merry-go-round.

But as for the "A" story:-

Agree wholeheartedly. Her response was not unexpected. Yes, we would like to have seen her tell Adama, but that wasn't going to happen.

It does seem that the XO and the Chief, having been military men their entire adult lives, have a better 'grip' on retaining their human personas, whereas Tori seems to be growing into her Cylon one -- I think this was the first time we saw any of the 'new four' exhibit superhuman strength. As for Anders, I'd guess it's his 'love' for Starbuck that keeps him from going off the deep end.

The Cylon civil war is fascinating. I don't think we have to assume that the Sixes and Eights have all been eliminated, just that they've probably taken a big hit. Interesting how Cavil expressed the opinion "we're all machines and have no souls", given how his cover back on Caprica with the resistance was as a priest, and how up till now he's always talked so much about religion.

I must also agree that Roslin's dictatorial tendencies are getting to be a rather boring sub-plot.

Can't wait to see what else happens.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Season 4

The thing that this show does best is build tension. Several times while watching it, I find myself not on the edge of my seat but actually out of it, standing up. Not so much with other shows. It's happened a few times on BG, and last night was one of them. I knew about Calley (had read a frakking spoiler) and was disappointed to actually see it happen, but I can't deny the building of tension.

Is there a preview online for next week? My recorder frakked out just after the ending.
