So...I know those are now included.

Which makes the whole "ratings system" bogus, IMHO. I don't know and never did know one single person who had a Nielsen rating box.

Huh? I think it was made very clear last night that Locke didn't know about the C4 in the floor below.

The Others sure seem to know a lot about the survivors, Mikhail somehow knew that Locke was paralyzed before coming to the island. And Jack playing football with Mr. Friendly was one of those 'What the hell?' moments.

Neilsen also sends out cards or logs for viewers to complete. They send you a log and you fill in which shows you watched and send it back at the end of the month. A friend of mine was chosen for this a few years ago -- only he didn't have a TV. He filled out the form anyway, putting down what he would have watched. Just shows you how absurd the Neilsens are. That advertisers pay attention to them or think they are indicative of viewership is a joke.

My understanding is that Locke did know about the C4. How else would it have made its way into his pack? Same type/package as the stuff Sayid and Kate saw, AFAIK.

Re: Lost season 3 discussion....

Locke knew about the C4. He lied when first asked and tried to conceal it from Sayid when he went to get the axe out of his pack. It's unclear how he knew the whole place was rigged, but we can assume he was last out of the place and went into the basement, where he saw it and took one block of C4.

The security system made no sense. Why hide the camp in the middle of the island with a huge very visible perimeter? It more or less announces you are there. Also, pretty easy to defeat it if you have multiple people as we saw. Only thing that makes sense is that the security was designed to keep out animals.

I'm anxious to find out the explanation for Jack settling in with the Others in what, 4 days? Kate is gonna be pissed when she talks to him. This development is the first thing that's really grabbed me in a while.

Most likely to keep out the various polar bears, smoke monsters etc.

And I knew Locke blew the place up on purpose. And I think Locke knows/knew eye patch from the past. His shoked face when in the pearl monitoring station was not because he was shocked that he saw someone, it was because he saw someone he knew. He knew what would happen when he shoved one eye through the fence and he did it to shut him up.

The above is in no way a spoiler, it's pure speculation.

Yes, it may announce where the barracks are located, but for people who don't know it is sonic, if a group walks through together and sets it off, they die all together. They don't have a chance to tell anyone else about the perimeter.

It's only easy to defeat if you know it is sonic OR have a guinea pig, like Locke, Sayid and Kate did.

The copious numbers of animal corpses could also provide a clue.

Which is why I said it was easy to defeat if you had multiple people. As for whether or not someone is a guinea pig, it could be willing or unwilling. Group walks up, and not perceiving the threat, one person walks through and the rest instantly know that the conspicuous man made objects are a defense system. It doesn't make sense that the perimeter was designed to protect a secret installation. So either the installation was never intended to be secret and the defense is there to protect them from attack by a known enemy, or it was for animals.
