The Unofficial Late Night Talk Show Thread

Letterman is my hero. It's offiical.

To Bill O'Reilly on tonight's episode:

"I figure about 60% of what you say is crap."

Talk about being conservitive.

To be fair, O'Reilly is on 5 days a week as well.

Ryan

I saw part of Reilly's time on Letterman, and I was startled (in a good way) how Letterman switched from goofy smartass to serious smartass. I'm glad he didn't just banter with Reilly or let him down easy.

On a side note, loved on Letterman's opening jokes: (paraphrase) it's so cold in NYC that the hookers are handing out North Face condoms.

I love Letterman...but, count me among those who hate when he does this kind of stuff. He's out of his league with someone like O'Reilly. Dave isn't a news man, he doesn't do research, and he is an unlikely debater. I just felt uncomfortable.

And O'Reilly is? To me he will always be the host of the tabloid TV show, Inside Edition.

Lol!

Yeah, he is. He has a freaking army of researchers and fact checkers working off a huge payroll now. Ratings do that for you.

Sure, he's still an opinionated blowhard with a Titanic sized ego. But, he can debate well and has a mountain of facts to back whatever position he sees fit.

Thanks very much for the link, Walter.

I don't think Letterman at all came out on top in as much as he didn't want to and wasn't prepared to discuss any particular issue. It seems he only wanted to scold O'Reilly and hold him in extreme public disdain. Maybe that's an ego-boost for Letterman, but if he thinks that he took down O'Reilly a notch or two, the split applause in Letterman's own audience counter-indicate that.

You guys see the Howard Stern interview on The Factor? Now that was some sarcastic bantering there. Very entertaining stuff. Each one daring the other to lose their cool but they didn't.

Exactly: he picks among the facts to back whatever position he wants to take, and ignores the facts he doesn't like.
