He beat Brent Armstrong in Sqaush. When he stands atop the D-Squash Ladder, then and only then will he reveal his true identity. You will now spend each moment between now and the match worrying. Every minute will be a universe of terror, and marathon of fear. ERADICATOR!!!
Or he might be this guy. I get the two confused sometimes.
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Um...easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."

But Jor-El has been to Earth, he fell in love with an Earth woman, he sent Kal-El to be raised by the Kent's and they have done that well, they loved him like their own and kept him safe,
|
So why kill an earthling then just because Clark got his powers back?

Who knows, maybe that's just the way things were done on Krypton.
I could be wrong, these are all just my own theories, maybe Jor-El HAS gone mad.

Maybe this loved one won't die by Jor-El's hand. Maybe he's just reporting what will inevitably have to happen. It would be easier if this mysticism would be explained.

There's no reason to think that the Jor-El that we saw in "The Relic" is the same Jor-El that is influencing Clark now. After reading the description in that link, I could definitelly see the similarities and how easy it would be for the writers of Smallville to incorporate it into the show. The Eradicator is simply a device used to preserve a planet's culture and way of life that has had many run-in's with Superman in the comics. Somewhat similar to the way Jor-El has been in Smallville. Seeing as how the show has already used many of Superman's past friends/foes in one form or another (Mzxylpltk, Flash, Brainiac, Aquaman, Phanotm Zone criminals, etc.), what's to stop them from using this one? Other than the fact that the Eradicator is not one of the comic's most well known characters, and the name is kinda goofy.
But seeing as how Smallville's Jor-El is very sinister and determined to see that Clark fulfills his mission to preserve Kryptonian culture and to rule Earth by somehow magically taking away and giving back his powers from beyond the grave, leads me to believe that this "Jor-El" may not be Clark's father, but another force yet to be revealed.

I liked the episode, for the most part, until we get to Jor-El's "there will have to be a penalty extracted" bit. I mean, why, other than artificially creating melodrama? I've got no problem with Clark symbolically losing someone he loves to stay alive, but actually coming out and saying yes, we're going to do this deliberately, is just arbitrary.

Exactly what I thought after I watched the episode. One other thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread. Who the hell's Gabriel? We've been watching these kids for 4 years now and suddenly Chloe has another friend? Felt a bit like Pete's car racing stint that lasted one episode.
By the way, that first scene in the Kent-house felt really surreal and hilarious to me. I've never noticed anyone calling a friend's parents for Mr. or Mrs. and what was it with their reaction and stuff like "tell me you were atleast safe". I can't imagine my parents nor anyone else's parents would act like that... Atleast not here in Norway. It felt like they stepped through a time portal and ended up in 1955 or something...

Alright, i'm willing to admit that the whole Jo-El thing is up in the air, it would be interesting if it turned out to be what you guy's think it is.
As for the way Jonathan acted towards Clark the morning after, he was way too hard on Clark! Afterall this was Lana, they've liked each other for years before that and now they finally went for it, good for them.
Jonathan needs to stop treating Clark like he's 10 years old who needs his hand slapped for digging into the cookie jar. So Clark had sex with Lana, big deal, they both earned it after all the hell they've been through together, that was some hard earned nookie.

Oh, and Clark neither leapt nor flew. If you look at the scene, you'll notice shockwaves coming out from his behind. It's pretty obvious he used his super-human flatulence powers to push himself up towards the missile.
Can't you imagine it in the comic? "AND FROM HIS ANUS ISSUED FORTH A FLATUS OF IMMENSE PROFUNDITY AND IT RATTLED THE RICHTER TO RAGE!"
I can.

Maybe it is a time warp but if I wake up and see my 18-year-old son with a girl coming out of his room after spending the night in my house, time wouldn't be the only thing getting warped.
Jonathan is meant to be conservative and "old fashioned."
Who is Gabriel? You kind of just have to ignore these things. We don't see every moment of everyone's lives.

Mikah, I don't think you're alone. I think most people would have the same reaction to that circumstance. Also, when I was 18, I didn't call my friends' parents by their first names. So, didn't seem that far-fetched a scene at all.
