The vampire thing would have probably worked better if it had been played as a total Buffy parody. I'm no Buffy expert, but it seemed like they mainly just did some joking references to that show--not an outright spoof. At the very least, they made the events stick instead of doing some reset button, "Chloe was just doing some creative writing" cop-out.
So, the Halloween episode was mostly a bust. I hope the Christmas episode is better.

The highlight of this episode was the dialogue between Clark and Chloe regarding costumes. When he finds out about the costume party, Clark said something like "I hate costumes." Later, dressed as Zorro, he made some comment about the cape really growing on him, but that the mask was driving him crazy -- as it kept moving slipping around on his face. I just thought it was fun seeing the moments that are going to influence Clark's costume choices later in life.

he has been called Brainiac so many times in this thread, not to mention all over the net, that me spoilerizing his true identity would have been redundant, we all know who he really is here.

Well, and he's named Milton Fine, which is the name of the guy Braniac possessed in his first post-Crisis appearance. That's Superman information that's been out there for nearly twenty years.
Still, before he offed the Luthorcorp guy following him, I was playing with the idea that he might actually be Braniac 5 - that we'd be expecting him to be a villain, but he was actually traveling back in time from the 31st Century in order to help Clark. It'd be a clever twist, and some of his dialog suggested he knew about Lex and Clark because it was history to him.

Frankly, there is good homage and there is bad homage. This was bad homage. It was neither funny nor clever. When Lana turned into a vampire I think my eyes rolled so far back they actually made it back around.
Luckily, the Lex/Brainiac stuff worked very well.
"If you write a story about a soldier going AWOL and kidnapping a pregnant woman and finally shooting her in the head, it's called searingly realistic, even though it's never happened in the history of mankind. Whereas if you write about two people falling in love, which happens about a million times a day all over the world, for some reason or another, you're accused of writing something unrealistic and sentimental."

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. At least they gave a fairly legitimate reason for the vampires. Plus, they moved Milton Fine's story along a little bit. I think a lot of people forgot or didn't realise that he came from that ship.

Yeah, the Lex/Brainiac stuff was definitely the redeeming part of this episode.
I'm still not convinced that Fine is not out to help Clark... I mean, sure he offed Lex's goon but it could easily be argued that the goon was an "evil" cohort or what not... and it's just a difference in sytle on how to handle him. I mean, sure, Clark wouldnt' have killed the guy... but, this isn't Clark we are talking about. Doesn't mean he isn't on Clarks' side necessarily.. and he has been helping Clark see the truth about Lex.
I don't know.. will definitley be interesting to see where it goes, though.

How did Lana get her Teeth through Clark's skin? If a bullet cant penetrate it, how can a set of teeth??

Vampires are magical... oh, wait. Darn.
The antidote was bright green, IIRC - I suppose it's possible that there was enough kryptonite in there to slow Clark down without putting him into writhing-on-the-floor pain.

It was clearly shown when Lex opened the container that it had enough Kryptonite in it that Clark moved away with purpose, and was still weak. Thus, Lana was able to bite him because when exposed to Kryptonite, Clark turns weaker than a human.
I wasn't altogether sure what was going to happen when she bit him. After all, she bit him when he was weak. It was strange to see his powers pass to her without his weaknesses also passing to her. You can chalk it up to the way her existing virus interacted with his blood, though.

Lex also had a huge stalagtite made of kryptonite in the case, which is what weakend him.
Anyone else's DVR's all primed and fired up for next week's episode?
