A&E's "Intervention"
Anybody watching Intervention on A&E? Sunday's at 10PM. Man, this show is great... makes you really thankful for the life you have! The general premise is that they film people with addictions under the guise of shooting a documentary about addictions. What the subjects don't know is that their friends & family are arranging for an intervention, which is the show's climax.
This past week's episode focused on two people: one "shopping addict" and a compulsive gambler. The shopper was supposed to have been on E.R. the first couple of seasons, but didn't look familiar to me. She turned out to be a complete head case and I went from thinking that someone with a "shopping addiction" was a vapid waste of space to actually caring for her since she was obviously deeply disturbed.
Now this gambler on the other hand, he needed to be kicked out on the streets and live in a cardboard box or something. Here was a 31 year old person (I can't use the term "man" for him) who was sponging off his parents, gambling it all away, then blaming anyone but himself for the results. Great TV... got my blood boiling really good!
Check it out if you get a chance!
