Yes, folks, you heard it here. A few characters have yet to be cast (but should during the next few days) the roles so far are breaking down this way:

ALEC NEWMAN (Barnabas) (Paul from DUNE miniseries)
MARLEY SHELTON (Victoria Winters)
IVANA MILICEVIC (Angelique)
JESSICA CHASTAIN (Carolyn Stoddard)
MARTIN DONOVAN (Roger Collins) (Excellent Hal Hartley Actor)
MATT CZUCHRY (Willie)
ALEXANDER GOULD (David) (The voice of Nemo in Finding Nemo)

Shooting starts later this week if its not bumped to next week. Directorial chores are being handled by PJ HOGAN, who did the stylish recent PETER PAN redo.

Well, Alec is a busy boy from playing Paul Atreides to Victor Frakenstein to Barnabas. Now I'm waiting for William Hurt to show up in this series somehow.

Certainly not as "high-powered" a cast as the 1991 series, which included Ben Cross (Barnabas), Jean Simmons (Elizabeth), Roy Thinnes (Roger), Lysette Anthony (Angelique), and Barbara Steele (Julia Hoffman).

And isn't Alec Newman too young to be playing Barnabas? Looks like this may turn into the Dawson's Creek version of Dark Shadows. 'Course, since it's on the WB, that's probably the point.

Looks like we will never find that out: it's been axed already...

Dark Shadows 2004

I've just started watching the originals on DVD and was looking forward to the new show.

For anyone interested in some new info on this aborted project, check out the current issue of Fangoria (#239, Dec '04 issue). A few pics and about four pages of article.

Just glanced at it as I picked it up this afternoon...

It's an interview with someone from the production staff (don't remember who, sorry) and covers the problems that apparently plagued the "resurrection" from the beginning. The cover blurb (which really caught my eye) was something like "The Dark Shadows You Will Never See!" So, I think that answers your "is it back on track" question. I will post more info on Wed after I read it!

In Sci Fi magazine this month they have something simular and it lists allot of genre pilots that never made it to the air including a revival of Time Tunnel.
I wish there was a website where you could see these. I would especially like to see the Lost in Space one that was suppose to be a relaunching of that show. Along with Dark Shadows, it never made it to the air.

According to this article, the pilot only was filmed and is available in a rough cut version that the WB didn't like. There was no original scoring done and the CGI fx were never completed. I wish the '91 TV version and the theatrical movies would come to DVD! I am currently in Volume 4 of the DVDs and getting all caught up in Dark Shadows Fever!
