D*TV wins satellite purchase over DISH

Here is the news hot off the wire about Echostar's (DISH's) wild and wooley attempt to steal away satellites made by Loral, and destined for D*TV (and more HDTV)...

Dish's attempts clearly are some of the shadiest business tactics seen - that must be why 4 different state atty generals are investigating how the DISH folks went about this, and why the BK court said NO WAY (in effect) on the sneaky DISH maneuvers. It sure makes you wonder what kinda shape DISH is in to try and pull this stuff...

The good news is...looks like 2004 & 2005 D*TV HD satellite launches are back on track!

This IS good news.

And this is BAD news for my wallet.

Looks like I will have to start planning on a DTV HD receiver purchase. Was hoping ultimately to get a DTivo HD receiver but who knows when that will surface. And I am sure the cost will be really high to start.
