My housemate and I have been renting the Mission: Impossible TV series.
|
I have been buying the series. I am a huge fan. And they have done a great job with the transfers.

I own Once Upon a Time in the West

So watch the Trilogy and then watch OUATITW. Great stuff.

Currently I'm in the process of grabbing a 131m Extended Cut of ALIEN. Can't wait to see it!
|
Never saw it. I do have the extended cut of Aliens. That one I liked better than the original. I also have the extended cuts of The Abyss and Terminator II which I liked better than the original.
When you have a bum knee that gives you more discomfort with sitting than up and walking on it sounds like it is getting displaced. Mine used to do that and so I went to the gym and did some leg presses and after a few days it was lot better. Sounds to me though that you need to have it looked at by your doctor. You might have a torn meniscus or something along those lines and the Ibuprofen with just mask it and then you are just adding insult to injury.

Re: Testy Area 51
I bought the first 3 seasons of Mission: Impossible. Rented season 4 cause i never liked Nimoy in the show, I still dont. I just see Spock being all crazy. He even does the eye brow thing!
Do you guys tweak the hell out of a new TV when you get one? The picture has to be, just so. If i was rich id think about one of those professional calibrations, but im not, so i dont think about it. My eyes are still good enough to see a TV from a distance. Its reading a damn newspaper thats the trouble now.
Anyway, i think i got it in a happy spot, for now.

Re: Testy Area 51
Hey Rick, I always tinker with the settings when I get a new TV. Some of the old DVDs used to have a THX optimizer thing on it. I found, that the one on "BAD TASTE" of all things, gave the best result for movies to look like movies. My cousin tried the one on "Anna & The King" (with Jody Foster) and when finished everyone was glowing pink XD
I had a fantastic DVD find yesterday. After puttering out early from the gym, i headed to HMV. I flipped through the martial arts movies, and found the film WARRIORS TWO! It's an old Sammo Hung flick, and the very first HK martial arts movie I ever saw when pay tv first showed up. I had a copy taped off the channel, but it was missing the first 15 minutes and I always wanted to replace it. I could never find it since I was always looking for WARRIORS THREE on amazon and this one never came up. Anyways, $10 and it was mine. I scanned it and sadly the dub isn't the old ass and hilarious one with the Austrailian accents, and the cleaned it up (the classic line "hey mate, I think you pissed yourself!" is now "Hey, you wet yourself!") but what ya gonna do? Look forward to watching this one if I ever finish these Van Dammes I'm obsessed with, I got STREETFIGHTER rambling on at the mo.
As far as fan edits, i never watched one.

Re: Testy Area 51
I have never seen a fan edit of anything either. I just skip the parts i dont like. I know, blasphemy to skip stuff in a movie. I read the last chapter of a book, first too! I only own one Van Damm movie...Universal Soldier. Poor damn, Damme, he isnt the sharpest knife in the drawer, is he. I mean, some of these guys, like Sly and Arnold, are really smart, its just people dont think they are cause they dont appreciate the fine movies they do. But Van Damme...not so much. Just watch him in the US interviews. And Dolf Lundgren, he really is a scientific genius!

That hit the funny bone, what were the other ones? The lights are on but nobody's home, a few fries short of a happy meal, a few beers short of a six pack, any more? Not the brightest bulb on the tree? hehe luverly oh wait here's another, the wheel is spinning but the hamsters dead [snorts]
I'm interested in fan edits because I used to make my own back in the 80's on tape, I was always tampering with my films. On my later more expensive video recorders I had stereo sliders to play with and when I was taping a big action film that was in mono I'd wait for the action to start and I'd move the sliders about to create a stereo effect, I had my own stereo copy of Terminator 15 years before Cameron remixed the sound for dvd, he proudly boasted.
In the early 90's we had satellite tv for the first time and the German channels were showing all their movies in widescreen, British tv wasn't yet commited to widescreen. So I would record a movie say, Bridge on the River Kwai, off a German channel like RTL+ and than dub it with the English track from my old BBC copy, took a bit of time but it worked. And than dvd came along and everything was in widescreen!

Re: Testy Area 51
We people from California tend to disappear for several years.
So Testy is 6 years old? That's amazing. There I am on page 2.
Well, I saw The Dark Knight this morning. It's a great movie, but my favorite of the summer and the entire year is still Speed Racer.

Re: Testy Area 51
Russ liked Speed racer. I didnt see it. I will wait for it to come out on DVD, and rent. I think i have only gone to the movies once or twice this year. I really hate people kicking the back of my chair, and the guy who cant resist to text someone during the movie...agghhh...the damn glowing cell phone light!
But i have to see Batman, and The X Files, in the cinema!

Re: Testy Area 51
I saw a 10:00 a.m. showing of "The Dark Knight" today -- was able to get my favorite seat. I liked the movie a lot, but it was very strange -- at one point it was like I hit story fatigue and I somehow didn't like how it wrapped up too well. It was at the point where . Well cast and performed top to bottom.

Re: Testy Area 51
Well, Speed Racer will be coming out in September. I can't recommend it enough. Visually spectacular, innovate use of the visual language, great family film with a lot of heart, and good performances all around.
Elizabeth, I didn't think it wrapped up that well. Very tragic ending that left me wondering what will happen to certain characters and where the story will go.

Yeah! You can see great detail and all of them retain the film grain. The first season was weird because Mr. Briggs isn't as good a character as Jim Phelps.

I think that's what it is. I know jack and shit about medical stuff so I'll check with my Doc. Thanks Park!
DAMMIT! I can't find my Monkey Island Collection! I only own the first three games so never played the fourth one.
