Re: Testy Area 51
I have AVP: Requium to watch tonight from NetFlix. It had been at the top of my Q for ...well...since it came out. I am only now getting it. I am a sucker to see this, even though i am 75% sure i think it will suck. Hey, the other 25% has to know!
And yes, i thought the first AVP sucked hard.

Hey, if you were a Bill Gates id say go for it. You can never be over the top when your rich! I remember seeing a Robby the Robot you could buy...lifesize...and only $10,000 or so. Really, it would be a steal at that price, if i had 10 grand laying around doing nothing.

Re: Testy Area 51
You know, i have only seen one preview for Indy. We saw Iron Man last week, and they showed Indy before the movie. It looked good to me. Oh, loved Iron Man, and we stayed around after the credits to see the little bit extra. I am gonna have to read the Indy thread, see how good a laugh it is. Dont you like how some of these guys who talk trash, are also the ones that wonder why the studios dont like to do chats with the HTF!
Oh, and AVP:R was heinous trash. Damn was it a boring movie. Lets see, it was about 90 min long, and had Aliens, and Predators for about 20 minutes total, and teen angst for the other 70 minutes. Cloverfield had more plot, and i didnt really care for that one either.
But hey, i did like Iron Man, so i know i am not some snoot that hates everything. I just expect something to happen in a movie, especially a horror/sci-fi flick!

Re: Testy Area 51
I bought AVP-R, knowing full well it was dire, far worse than the previous entry which I kinda like, but just to be a completist. You know have all the Alien and Predator movies up on the shelf. Bad enough it was crap it was also too dark, I couldn't make out anything, maybe just as well.
Three more 3 for £20 dvds today, HMV sale, I picked 3:10 to Yuma (excellent remake), Disturbia (Teenage Rear Window) and Elizabeth the Golden Age (sequel to Elizabeth). Seen them before and enjoyed them, comes to about £6.66 each not bad.
And I picked up another free James Bond paperback "Diamonds Are Forever" with The Times newspaper today, they're giving away Ian Fleming novels every day this week, "From Russia With Love" tomorrow. Good quality paperbacks, are they mad?
Hmmm I think our Jimmy used up his yearly quota of smileys all in one post up there.
Yeah that Indy thread is all over the place, some people have already decided to wait for the dvd. Seems like it's dividing fans the way the Star Wars prequels did. I knew it could never match the previous 3, too many years have passed, the old magic is gone, aliens and spaceships have taken over. Should still be a fun night out though.

I loved 3:10 to Yuma, great picture on the Blu-ray. I have not seen the other 2 you got Steve, but i do have Disturbia on my NetFlix. Might move it up the list if you like it. I hear Elizabeth is good, but the second, not so much. I enjoy a good period piece. Shoot, i still have fond memories of watching Henry the Eighth on PBS with my grand parents back in the early 70s.

Re: Testy Area 51
Elizabeth the sequel was more of an action piece, dealing as it does with nasty Spaniards attempting to invade olde Englande in their fleet of warships, the Spanish Armada, but no worries Errol Flynn aka Clive Owen is at hand to blow them out of the water with his fleet of Spitfires no wait wrong war. I thought it was a colourful historical romp which messes about with actual historical events, as they all do. The whole thing is worth seeing just for the magnificent Cate Blanchett as The Virgin Queen, whether yelling at scheming foreign ambassadors or lusting after Walter Raleigh, you can't take your eyes off her.
Disturbia is Young Indy aka Shia LeBeouf as a teen convinced his neighbor is a killer. Pretty good Hitchcock for teens, I liked it, so did Sandra who goes a little over the top when someone on screen is in danger, she whimpers, grabs at my arms or legs and squeezes, and it could get really painful if I'm not careful.

Yea, i know what you mean, been their, had the same happen.
Just got caught up on the Indy thread. lets see, they love it, they hate it. Myself, cant wait to see it. I will wait a week or two, watch it when the crowd dies down. I like to see movies on a weekday when most are at work.
