So, has anyone explained what exactly a "bank holiday" is? Most banks I know are hardly open to begin with, let alone creating special holidays to again be closed.

And just because banks are closed, does the rest of the country close too?

Banks over here observe every conceivable holiday on the calender, about half of which most everyday working stiffs don't get off. So there's plenty of days when banks are closed but the real world continues on.

Come to the Darkside....we have cookies!

Jack:

Have you ever given any thought to the possibility you are surrounded by robotic neighbors (ala The Stepford Wives) and that maybe they are giving off some kind of magnetic aura which is disrupting your computer screen?

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Mike I know Jack's into Science Fiction and [whispers] Zardoz but humoring him about robotic neighbors just isn't cricket ol'boy.
Psst Jack don't listen it ain't bloomin' robot women that are causing your probs, I would think it's most likely just pesky aliens from Mars that are trying to communicate with you via your computer, that's all, don't worry about it I get it all the time [ooh].
But seriously Jack I don't know whats happening to your Mac, maybe it's gremlins?
[eee I'm doing it again]

All I know about Bank holidays is that banks are closed on this day, schools are closed, and we all have a day off too, woohoo, but many shops stay open which comes in useful...

"For the next sixty minutes..."

I've started cycling through the first season of The Outer Limits for the second time; looked at "The Galaxy Being" Saturday afternoon. I'm timing it so that I will transition smoothly to the second-season set being released by MGM in September. The best science-fiction TV series ever. Easily.
