I bet Russell's also starting to regret posting that picture now.

You think that one is bad, you should see the "Barbie Dreamhouse" photo from the same day. There's no way I'm posting that one!
This post is invisible! It also has the power to kill threads!

Re: Testy Area 51
Rubbish!! England always crash out of major tournaments during penalty shootouts, this was the 5th time it's happened since 1990. As the commentator said "We're just no good at penalties" Pathetic, really pathetic! Fucking Wayne Rooney. or Shrek as I call him, what was that all about? Stomping on your opponents balls after he's down? Angrily pushing players away? Red card, red card! Get him off the little shit.
Other than that it was a thrilling game, both teams determined and desperate to score, many near-misses. Now I have the Germanians, Sandra's team, to root for. Greet mon!!

Re: Testy Area 51
England's all-time record in PK shootouts is now 1-5, while Germany's is 5-1...hmm. Makes you wonder about the level of nerves that each team seems to come up with when it counts.
I was confused by the red card at first, but then I saw the balls-kicking thing, which was literally right in front of the referee! The red card was kind of late in coming, so I'm not sure what exactly it was for, but the pushing might have had nothing to do with it. That itself was dumb, but probably not a red card offense. A foot to the family jewels, on the other hand...yeah.
Let's see how the English press treats Rooney for it. As I'm sure you remember, Steve, Beckham was absolutely murdered by the English media after he was red-carded for a kick to the behind of an Argentinian player in the '98 World Cup elimination round. Will a double standard prevail, or will Rooney take a similar beating in public?
I'm sure it won't be quite as entertaining, though. I was going through Heathrow the day after England lost that game in '98--some friends and I had seen a few matches in France, and I was on my way to visit relatives in Israel. I remember seeing one tabloid that ran a very revealing Posh Spice picture on the front page with the headline "NEVER LET HIM SEE YOUR TITS AGAIN!" Ah, British tabloids.

Re: Testy Area 51
Yep but Beckham managed to bounce back. I don't know about Rooney, little shit has a temper, on and off the pitch. It'll be interesting to check out the News of the Worlds headlines tomorrow, they along with The Sun turned Rooney into a superhero leading up to the World Cup. "Englands great white hope" as some called him.

Re: Testy Area 51
Incredible, the World Cup has turned into a European Cup. Brazil are out, beaten by France. A couple of years ago France was beaten by Greece, which than went on to beat Portugal 1-0 to clinch the European Championship (yay!). Incidentally England had again lost to Portugal in the penalty shootout two years ago.
Time for a game of - Find the Kong.
Somewhere in this screenshot is a giant goatee'd gorilla, can anyone spot him?

Brazil are out, beaten by France.

Eerie scene here in Mt. Vernon. We have a large Brazilian population here in MV and after every match there is usually a very large celebration along Gramatan Ave & Lincoln Avenues. Big enough where traffic has to be detoured down side streets.
But no more then 15 minutes after the match w/France was over, it was like a ghost town. Oh there where a few stragglers here & there. I counted maybe 6-8 people wearing Green & Yellow Brazilian jerseys. But nothing like the throngs that come out after a victory. It was like everyone just disappeared into thin air.
Rommel could have driven 10 divisions of Panzer tanks down Gramatan Ave and not been noticed, thats how empty it was.
Thank you France for a nice peaceful, quiet night in Mt. Vernon.
VIVA LA FRANCE!!!
