There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Re: Test
Who do Idahoans root for in major league baseball?
Seattle? Colorado?
Only 24 major leaguers were born in Idaho. The most famous of these is Harmon Killebrew; he of the 573 homeruns.
And, a question which has resulted in my curiosity of this issue: why are the U of I sports teams referred to as the Vandals?

Re: Test
Beats me. I don't follow baseball. There was a famous pitcher born here too. Let's see if I can look up his name in my history books.
Boise has the minor league Boise Hawks.
I don't know why the UI Vandals are called that. Located in Moscow, you would think they would call themselves the Kremlin Killers or something like.

Re: Test
Here we go. Walter "Big Train" Johnson is considered by some the greatest pitcher of all time. He once pitched 85 straight scoreless innings. He got his start pitching for the Weiser Kids of the semi-pro Idaho State League. He was scouted and with the Senators he won 416 games in 21 years. He was a charter member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.

From Wikipedia:

The University of Idaho has one of the most scenic campuses in the western U.S. The campus was originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (of the Olmsted family firm); the same landscape architecture firm that designed the U.S. Capitol grounds and Central Park in New York City. Other notable campuses designed by the firm include Stanford, California, Washington, and Notre Dame.

Re: Test
Damn. Frederick Law Olmstead was one busy dude. He designed everything back in the day. One incredible guy. Almost as amazing as the Big Train. Who was born in Kansas, BTW. I do not deny him his Idaho semi-pro background, though!
The Big Train hung with guys like Silent Cal:

Re: Test
Olmstead really got around. I'm used to his work, having spent time in:
NY Central Park
SF Golden Gate Park
Stanford U
U Calif. at Berkeley
The last three were all close to where I lived in San Jose.

Re: Test
Albany has its own park designed by Olmstead--Washington Park.
