Eric,

Are you using a 5.1 setup, or a 7.1? I'm asking because I'm intrigued by the VMPS ribbon speakers and I have a 7.1 setup. My goal would probably be to have RM1's or RM2's up front, with another pair in the rear (or possibly the ribbon 626), then perhaps the dipoles for the side surrounds, but so far I have not read about anybody using such a setup. It seems that most of the reviews involve two-channel, and if I'm reading some reviews correctly, the owners use VMPS speakers for two channel then switch to something else for HT.

Also, have you seen anything about when the LRC might be available, and what will it cost? I've found only limited information. Basically, all I know is that it will be 31 inches.

An upcoming episode has not yet been scheduled. Please check back later.

I am using my RM2s in a 5.1 setup, for now I don't have the space to allow for 7.1. Looks like what you are aiming for should sound very good (dipoles on sides, 626 on back).

As for the LRC, Brian Cheney mentionned a cost of 950$ and compared it to a RM40 in a compact format over at Harmonic Discord's VMPS forum. No idea of it's availability, you should try emailing him (VMPSaudio@aol.com). I haven't looked much into it since I'm focused on upgrading my source end of things for now (i.e. add an external amplifier to my Yammy receiver, etc).

Thanks Eric. I've checked out the VMPS forum. The only things that bothers me about it is that their just isn't much activity, and I'm really eager for info. I did find the info you mentioned on the LRC.

As for the other, what Yamaha do you have, and what amps are you looking at? I ask because for a time I used my DSP-A1 as a pre/pro with a Sherbourn 5/1500 amp. I've since gotten a Lexicon, but I still use and enjoy the Sherbourn, which in my mind was quite a bit of amp for the money.

If you are interested in VMPS, the only thing I can tell you is try to find a dealer close to you or someone willing to demo (through HD forum). That should settle whether or not you want them

I have a Yamaha RXV-800 receiver, and trying to get a decent stereo amplifier. I am planning on moving to all separates, but since it cost a load of money, I am doing it in "phases". I don't want to render my Yammy completely useless right now, I thought just getting a 2ch amp for the fronts and powering the surounds with my Yammy would be a good start.

I am looking for amplifiers around 1K, so that means Aragon 8008ST (used) or Odyssey Audio Stratos for me. Since there is a waiting list for the Stratos, I decided to go for a used Aragon (still haven't bought one).

Send a message via ICQ to Mike_Frame
I can post here now woohoo.

After reading through all 11 pages of this post, and a bunch of others, I went out and bought some speakers today.

I was looking for a satellite package, but after reading the various suggestions I went with the following...

Front : Mission M71's
Rear : Mission M70's
Centre : Mission M7C1
Sub : That's next on my list...

I have to thank all you guys. I would have ended up buying a mid range satellite system had I not found this forum.
