HT speakers question (7.1 surrounds question)

Hi, thanks for reading this.

I'm quite a newb when it comes to HT but learning slowly. Our basement is being constructed (slowly...by me) and I've got all the wire in the walls and the placement is about right for all the surround speakers. The question that I pose to you is:

I'm going to be getting the Energy 2 x c-R100 for sides and was planning on 2 x c-100 for the rear surround. There is a sale on right now that I can get 2 x c-200 for the price of the c-100. Should I get the c-200s instead of the c-100s or will that throw the surround off because the speaker size in the rear is larger then then sides?

Thanks.

Re: HT speakers question (7.1 surrounds question)

I'm not sure about the difference in speaker size, but one thing to consider is that the Energy c-R100's are bipole speakers. My general understanding from what I've read is that for movies, bipoles or regular bookshelf speakers are better at the back of the room and dipoles are best for surround on the sides.
It might be a minor detail though so I'll let others chime in.

What's your room layout and dimensions and where do you have the speakers laid out relative to your sitting area?

Re: HT speakers question (7.1 surrounds question)

The room is 10x20. I was planning on putting the c-r100s on the sides and the c-100/c-200 on the back wall. Having the seating area just ahead of center of the room. It puts us a little close to the tv but I don't want the bass effects people talk about being center of the room.

Other then that you don't see a problem with getting c-200s in the back instead of c-100s? I figured if we ever upgrade those they could make good bookshelf speakers for a living room or something with background music.
