As most know, Tom Vodhanel of SVS originally started this list to objectively compare subwoofers. I just copied his post and updated the info as best I could. If you have more figures from Tom Nousaine’s 7500ft^3 room please email me the info at fabulousfrankie@hotmail.com. I would also appreciate an email if you find inaccuracies.

Have fun!

Fantastic list....did you incorporate the new subs that Tom Nousaine reviewed in the latest S&V? Also, are there no numbers for the VTF-3, SVS Ultra, 20-39PC Plus?

I recently subscribed to S&V and for some reason I haven't got it for like the last 2 months.

Has Tom Nousaine tested these? If he has and someone has the relevant figures, please send them so I can update the list.

These new additions really show that mainstream sub makers don't "get it" yet. $1690 for the Bag End and it only puts out 80db @25hz. Infrasub?

infra: adv. below, further on (in a book etc.). [Latin, = below]

Meanwhile the PB2+ at $1199 probably kicks out 110-115db at 25hz. But of course it's not "musical" like the Bag End.

I added one more sub today. DIYcable and Adire audio have partnered up to produce a new line of subwoofers being sold under the name Exodus Audio. It is a sealed Tumult based subwoofer with a 1000W Keiga plate amp. I'm not exactly sure what the name is but I've emailed Kevin Haskins of DIYcable to get that.

Here are some links to more information on the sub:
http://www.diycable.com/main/default.php
http://www.audiocircle.com/circles/viewtopic.php?t=5013

Here are it's numbers compared with the top performing subwoofers in the list:

Stryke Power 15 prototype – 115.3 / 16hz~99dB__25hz~106dB
Klipsch RSW-15 – 112dB / 20hz~97dB__112dB~32hz
Velodyne F1800 MkII – 111.9dB /
Exodus Audio’s flagship – 111.3 / 20hz~93dB__25hz~104.8(111.25dB)
SVS 20-39CS(not ISD)&Fidek FPA-3002 - 109.5 / 20hz~91db__25hz~105.8
Velodyne FSR15 - 109.1 / 16hz~90.1__25hz~103.1
Klipsch KSW300 - 109dB / 25hz~92dB (107.25dB)
Mission 700as - 108.1dB / 25hz~102dB(106.8dB)
BW asw1000 - 107.9dB / 25hz~96dB

Tommy,

Given an ISD, and the far superior construction and materials (not to mention a far superior power in the form of our PCi amp, or even the Samsons) mean that old CS's documented performance is indeed a somewhat conservative reflection of today's reality from our perspective. (That CS was literally one of the first SVS's off the line and should be in a museum or something by now ;^)

Not to detract from the purpose of the update in this thread, but if you thought the CS in this case pulled some good numbers, the latest tricks out of the SVS R/D shop would be even more impressive. Such is the nature of such a list unfortunately. Eventually we'll get a pause in new model rollouts and get some more current product baselined. Maybe. No sign of the long awaited breather so far.
