Sub in wall wiring

I'm wiring a family room and was wondering what type of wire can be used for the powered sub? I assume it should be a line level cable -- shielded. he run is about 7 feet from where the amp will be to the outlet on the wall. Could I run RG-6 for this application? I only ask this because I saw a wall plate that had a sub output that was an RCA connection on the front and a BNC connection on the back. Seems to me this would work fine...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Sub in wall wiring

RG-6 works great as a sub cable in the wall. Mine is 45 feet long by the time you run the length of the room in the attic and inside two walls. I use a wall plate with an F-connector on the inside and an RCA on the outside. I use crimp on connectors with the RG-6. I would assume that BNC connectors would be much more expensive and probably overkill on something like this. Look for the F/RCA wall plates at Parts Express.
