Any suggestions on not much room to work with

My mom has a sony 50" hd tv. She has front and rear Klipsch speakers and she loves them. She wants to get a Klipsch center channel and wants to put it on top of the tv. But the top of the tv is 1 3/4" wide. Not much room to work with. Behind the tv is a bow window, so can't put it there. She doesen't want to hang it from the ceiling. I aksed her if she could put it right in front of the tv where the tv sits on her stand. She said she might have about 5 inches to work with there. But the problem is the speaker can't be to high cause of interfering with the screen and the remote sensor. She says maybe she has 5 1/2" there in height. Does anybody have any suggestons for a Klipsch center channel? Thanks

Re: Any suggestions on not much room to work with

Are the current speakers in-wall or free standing?

i don't have a rec for a klipsch center, but you can set the center speaker to "no" on the avr and this should send the audio to the front speakers, creating a "phantom" center. if the room's not a weird shape and you can sit in the right spot this does work. maye this is what you or she is already doing.

HT: Marantz SR8000, PSB Alpha B fronts, Alpha C center, CSW New Ensemble surrounds, Martin Logan Dynamo Sub, Philips DVD, Sony CRT TV

Stereos include vintage Sony receivers/amps into vintage AR and KEF speakers.
