car sub for home theatre?!!

i have a new model alpine type-r 10inch sub, all specs are here
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...&lang=en&tab=F

my plans are setting it up in a down firing ported box in my 300 sq ft theatre room. i dont know what tunning frequency to make it for it says it can go down to 26hz i want boom (love explosions) what can i do to get this sub right. i will be running this sub at 700 700 watts per vc the sub is 500rms 1,500 peak and my amp is a beringer 1,200 x2 bass amp 4ohm. its bridged to 2 ohm right now but the gains are too touchy this way and its still in a sealed box

On your link, go to the refrece guide PDF and enter the Theile/Small parameters into WinISD or Unibox and model the sub. Simulate different enclosures and tuning frequencies.

You can tune this sub lower. That's a function of the box and port. How it responds can be simulated using the different free software packages I mentioned above. 25hz is as high as I would tune. You will also need a sub-sonic filter or you will bottom out that driver during most action scenes. Remember that War of the Worlds, Lord of the Rings, and dozens of other movies have sub 20hz material and sometimes it ventures into the single digit range.

You will destroy the sub doing that.

That's the thermal rating of the voice coil. That means it can take that much power without melting. But they usually determine that value using a tone in the 500hz to 1000hz range. In a large, ported enclosure it takes much less power to drive the sub to its mechanical limits.

I'm very familiar with that amp. I'm using it to drive a pair of TC-3000's in stereo @ 2 ohms.

Since it is not designed to be bridged into 2 ohms, I'm surprised you haven't burnt up the output transistors.

I don't mind helping you but I would appreciate proper sentence structure with capitalization and punctuation. It makes posts much easier to read and respond to.
