Yamaha HTR-5990 & 4 Ohm Speakers

Hi Folks,

I recently ordered some Boston Acoustics VRi593 In-Wall Speakers to use as Fronts in my system. When I search on specs for my receiver (Yamaha HTR-5990), they always list 4,6 and 8 ohm speaker support. In spite of this, the receiver can only be configured for 6 or 8 ohm speakers.

I've send a "what gives" email to Yamaha support but also wondered if anyone here is driving 4 ohm speakers with their HTR 5990.

Thanks,

Pete

Update...

Yamaha support replied to my email...

Quote:
That receiver only supports a 6 to 8 ohm load.

Best Regards,
The Yamaha Customer Support Team

I ordered a Power Amp (Crown XLS 402) to drive them.

Now to figure out the "fan mod" and RCA adapter.
