That would be a coaxial feed, for cable TV or a satellite dish. If there is no connector on the end, the cable company or satellite company can terminate it for you.

Connect those to the Niles speaker selector. That won’t get you any volume control – i.e., in conjunction with the wiring for the volume knobs. For that you’ll need a component designed for multi-zone, from Niles or Russound.

Do they look like one of these?
If so – as noted, you’ll need a special multi-zone component.

Yep, the black cable is cable, coaxial to be exact. It has a silver mesh type EMI/RFI shield followed by a white sheath and, finally, a silver heavy gauge center conductor.
I know enough to know I don't know enough!

Try hooking a couple of them straight to your receiver. You also might use an ohm meter across them to see if you’re getting a reading. Perhaps they aren’t even connected at the speaker end – you never know...

Can you upload a picture of them? I don’t know of any standard for this application. Might not hurt to give us a picture of that black cable, too, if you don’t think it’s for cable TV.
You may just have to hire a pro to sort this out. Where in Texas to you live?

Wayne
