Hipitched distortion?

I've set up my klipsch rf3's and rc3 and have been getting a high pitched squigelly distortion when i watch tv shows. the sound is hard to describe but it changes the pitch slightly and seemingly randomly very rapidly. its only noticeable when i'm within about 6 inches of the tweeter/horn (with the speakers at a resonable sound level). it seems to be alittle stronger in the right front than the center or left front, but they all seem to be doing it to some degree. i havent heard it when i play games or blurays. the receiver is usually set to prologicII-movie or game

i dont know if its the speakers, receiver, or analog sound from the dish network.

any ideas?

Re: Hipitched distortion?

I'm betting the source being the Dish network, either the box itself but more probably from somewhere in the extensive chain of processing electronics leading from the networks --> Dish's own signal processing systems --> up to their satellites --> down to your home satellite receiver. Soemthing is bound to be added to the original signal. But since it's only noticeable from 6" away, I wouldn't worry about it.

On a side note, with a lot of broadcasters I've noticed more and more sloppiness when it comes to their service, like pixelation of the image for no apparent reason (and we have *analog* cable), weird volume problems (for at least a MONTH now, the right channel on ESPN is about at half the level of the left ) and commericals cutting off the ends of episoide segments.
