Speaker suggestions. Getting close.

I posted this on another forum and wanted to get your input because I am so close. I started with an $800 budget and was set on the HSU VT12 thanks to Alon. I have since increased my budget because of all the comments I have read here. You have been very helpful and hopefully this will be my final request.

Long story short, I waited too long to get the Infinity Primus 360's and Crutchfield is out. With your help I have decided to keep my old receiver for now and increase my budget for speakers. I know you have answered this plenty of times, but here is what I am looking at for a 27x13 room (14 x 13 HT listening area). Looking for entry level speaker system to replace onkyo htib.

Vanns has package deal on new (identical) Primus series 5.1 package for $1000

Local BB has JBL Venue series package which they say is comparable to the Primus' I was looking to buy. $1340

Since BB has 24mo same as cash I could increase budget a little and go with Klipsch F2 bundle for $1649.

Question is for those who have heard the ID speakers, would these have comparable SQ for my room size (80% movies):

Premier Acoustic PA6F system $900
Ascend Acoustics 340/340/170 package $1200 (but no sub)
SVS SB01 System $1200 shipped
AV123 x series (looks like they have a floorstanding speaker coming soon)
Bic Acoustech Package $928
HSU Enthusiast Package $1225 shipped.

I am just looking for something to give me more than my Onkyo system does. It was a great system for the money, but I have a new TV on the way and want to upgrade my sound system. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. You guys have got me this far, I am just looking to finalize my decision. Thank you.

Hi adlenoir

The Ascends are very very accurate...however, the Onix series are somewhat less expensive, but much more attractive in their genuine wood veneer finishes...I would get the X-Series with an HSU VTF-3MK2 (while it is still available) at the closeout price of $612...this package will knock your socks off. Please keep in touch with me.

Thanks, Arthur. It's too late, the VTF 3MK2's are sold out. Maybe they will get more in. Seriously thinking of stretching budget to get the Ascends, but the x-series seemed to be liked a lot. Both sound like they would be a huge improvement for me. I'm still doing research. Thanks for your response. I will keep you posted.

Ascends vs. Klipsch

Thanks for the response guys. I had pretty much decided on the Ascends with the HSU VTF 3MK2 based on your suggestions. A friend at work told me that he can get me a discount on Klipsch so here is my dilemna:

Looking at the RF-62/RC-62/ and rears (don't know model) for same price as Ascends 340/340/170 shipped.

1. Which is better deal. I know Ascends are great speaker for the price, but with the discount on the Klipsch does this make them a better value?

2. I can also get the Sub RW 12 for $500. Would this compare to the HSU?

Thanks once again for your help.

Hi Tony

If the VTF-3MK2s are not coming back in stock...the VTF-2MK3 is very similar...the Ascends are slightly more accurate however, the X-Series is pretty close and significantly less expensive and more attractive in the genuine wood veneer finish...I have pre-ordered the X-Sub in White Shadow Maple...please keep in touch.

PS I have a pair of HSU VTF-3HOs plus Turbos and I can't begin to use their full capacity. Let me know in which direction you are leaning.

Re: Speaker suggestions. Getting close.

adlenoir,
I agree with the hsu 2.3. I have one and it is a mini monster. I cranked up the scene in Superman returns where they dropped the crystal in the water and it shook my house. the volume on my reciever was on 25 but the sub's volume was at 9 0'clock.

I am going to change the scene here a bit and reccommen the JBL L890s. Got to a local tweeter and give them a listen. If you want a pair, PM me and I will refer you to a dealer that has all colors at a great price. On another note, I put my L880s (only one month old) up for sale on ebay as I am replacing them with 890s. I just wanted a bigger speaker.

Hope this helps
