surround speakers and sub
My question is dealing with which speakers and sub i should be looking for. I recently bought a Yamaha HTR-5950 6.1 ch receiver, and Klipsch Synergy B2 bookshelf speakers.
In buying my next speakers should I stay with this line of speakers or would it be okay to go elsewhere? If it is ok to get other speakers, which ones should i look for. I'm trying to keep my budget under $2000 for the entire system. My other question is about the sub. Should i also stay in this line of speakers with it as well? I would also like some suggestions on which sub to buy if the Klipsch 12" 650W would not get the job done.
Thank you for your time and i will greatly appreciate any responses or advice on where I should turn next.

Re: surround speakers and sub
It is most important to match the front three as closely as possible. Not as much for the surrounds, unless you listen to music in 5.1 then they should be as close as possible as well. The sub is a different matter. I think Klipsch makes some decent subs but they are a little pricey. Most around here buy SVS, PB or HSU.

Hi Nick
If I was you I would get either the HSU VTF-3MK3 for $752 or better yet, the HSU VTF-3MK2 which is on clearance for $612 delivered... the MK2 is a great sub at a great price.

The way you are pimping Hsu all over this forum, are you sure you're not working for them?

Hi Rich
I certainly wish I was working for HSU...the fact is I work as a clinical consultant.

Re: surround speakers and sub
I have quite a bit of experience with SVS, Hsu and Velodyne, and they all make fine subs. You will get the least for your money from Velodyne. My Hsu subs are quite old, actually their first model, and they do an admirable job, but my experience is, if you want the greatest extension, SVS is usually the way to go. That doesn't necessarily mean they are the best in all aspects, but they sure have nice extension.
They flutter behind you, your possible pasts.
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Hi John
I almost bought a pair of Hsu 1220s, but waited and instead bought a pair of VTF-3HOs plus Turbos...according to the test in Secrets, they are flat to 12Hz with the Turbos. If I was going to spend >$6,000, I would get a pair of Velodyne DD-18s.
PS I have an SVS 20-39PCi for my office system.

Re: surround speakers and sub
Thank all of you for helping me with my questions.
I had planned on putting my bookshelf speakers in the back when i bought my two new speakers. I had been thinking of going with the F3 Klipsch floorstanding speakers in the front. If I have to match all my speakers as closely as possible should this be the way that I go?
Once again thank you all.

Hi Nick
If I was you I would put the Klipsch bookshelf speakers in the back and get 2 HSU HB-1s and an HC-1 Center, and an HSU VTF-3MK2 (before the MK2 is gone). Please keep in touch.
