Bad Sub?

I was watching Serenity over the weekend, and I noticed several times an awful rattle sound from my sub. I had not noticed this before........

I tried the "test tones" and did not get the same effect, but it may have been the depth of the base?

I am afrid I do not know a whole lot about subs...so any ideas would help...

Is there a volume control on the sub itself? If so does turning it down help the situation?

It does sound like some classic sub failure when high demand is put upon it.

It is possable something broke? Since I do not know a lot about how subs are made, I do not know what a broken one sounds like

What sub do you have?

My SVS PB12-Plus/2 sub had one of its drivers go bad during a scene in War of the Worlds. I had a rattling sound at almost any volume. Still on warranty, I was sent a new driver and it works like new again.
