This was annonunced several months ago and has been widely discussed on the AVS Forum. The requirements for this are quite ambitious and this is more of an add-on to an existing subwoofer to extend the range down to the 3-5Hz range.

Development costs are what have the price where it is now. If many are sold, prices will start to come down. The design is from a well respected engineer and the engineering is rather complex.

This device requires something roughly similar to an in-basement installation.

The present design is purposely limited. Frequencies in the single digits must be produced at very high levels (>100 db) in order to be audible.

If he chooses, the designer may come out with a more powerful model that will have an additional 10db, (120db) output.

The jokes about the design have all been told over at AVS.

Whats the point of a sub with this capability??? Cause structures to buckle? IMO, Theres a reason why subs have only had a frequency response down to 16-20Hz for so many years. Anything below is mostly usless in practical real world applications.
