so after finally getting some furniture for my little basement suite i'm looking at moving some things around.

right now i have the sub in a corner pointed driver out facing my listening space. with the new setup i have 2 love seats which i will be using in an l shape

Think -/| as loveseats and x as sub position

now my question is if i put my sub with the driver facing directly into the side of my couch would i lose that much clarity in the bass as the couch would muffle it or would it work as from what i understand bass is non directional so the location shouldn't matter (although some sound better then others of course)

I am not an expert, but here are my thoughts. Sound waves are made when the speaker moves air. Anything that restricts that air movement would effect the sound. Is you couch made of dense material? I am assuming that your sub placement options are limited. Can you have the sub next to the couch facing forward? If it is not much trouble, try it out.
