Which subwoofer ???
hey guys,
I have almost completed my home theater with a pair of B&W Nautilus 804 as front, HTM-1 center and Nautilus 805 pair as back speakers. I am bit confused about subwoofer. Some say B&W subs are not good, some say they're the best.
Any advice which sub would be better ? My budget for sub is around $1200-1500 range. I was looking at higher end subs like Martin Logan or Sunfire or B&W or....
Thanks
RS

i wouldnt include sunfire or martin logan as high end subs. they carry the price tag, but IMO, they sound terrible, especially with quick speakers like the 804's. if it were me, i would look at velodyne's DD series of subwoofers. the DD-12 would be a great compliment to your speakers.

Hi,
Go give the JMLab SW900 subwoofer a try. You will know its potential once you have heard it. Search "SW900" in the forum for Mike Duke review on the sub.

Take a look at the above link and give Kyle a call. The Tumult is known to be one of the very best drivers on the market.

Robert Cowan, the more I read about Martin Logan & Sunfire, the more I agree with you that they're not good enough.
I am thinking more between ASW-750 and Velodyne DD-10 or DD-12 though DD-12 will stretch my budget by about 700-800.. ouch!!!
What is your opinion about ASW-750 with B&W 804s ?
Thanks again for your time & advice..

the 750 is still an excellent sub, althought not as good as the more expensive DD's series. it of course blends well with the b&w's and augments the bottom end. if price is an issue, then this is the way to go.

Also consider ACI's Titan. Aci's sub have great adjustability to really integrate them well. They are sealed subs.

Thanks for your feedbacks guys. Guess what.. my search is over. I bought B&W ASW-800 .. blends perfectly with my other B&Ws. I auditioned Logan Martin and Velodyne too.. but somehow I loved ASW-800. Though Velodyne DD-12 ia awesome but too expensive..I was looking for around $1200 .. though ASW-800 stretched me to $1800 already.
Thanks again folks.
