Whenever I see speaker reviews in a number of different print magazines, the very positive reviews often read something like this:
"These speakers easily sound like those costing twice as much"
Now this got me to thinking (at the risk of starting a huge flame war) who makes these speakers that they are comparing to?
An example of what I mean is that Paradigm seems to be generally regarded as a good brand in terms of value for the dollar. Also a lot of the online direct brands are perceived the same way ie. Axiom or Rockets. So I was wondering if people had any consensus on brands that were the opposite, maybe decent enough speakers, but overpriced or just generally not worth the money (not including Bose, that topic has been done to death
)
I know every ear is different, so maybe there aren't these phantom $2000/pair of speakers that a lot of people find underwhelming, but I'll put the question out anyway.
