Well, generally speaking, you want a speaker away from the walls, as the walls will reinforce the bass, and you get wierd boundry effects. It can also degrade the imaging. This is not to say that you shouldn't ever mount speakers on the wall, as you can still have great sound, but given the choice to put them out in the room for proper placement, it's preferred to do taht instead. Especially if the speakers are rear ported, putting them right near the wall will make them very boomy, and flat against the wall can block the port of the speaker.
As long as the speaker isn't like resting ON the SVS or similar, you shouldn't have any problem with blocking the SVS port. You should be fine regardless.
