No line conditioner but there is no humming noise when it isn't plugged into the EQ. Without the EQ everything is alright but unfortunatly it is too boomy at some ranges

Try some experiments with your equalizer Chris.
First try setting the equalizer to all neutral settings. If you still get a hum, you will know that the fault (almost for sure) lies in your equalizer, or possibly in the connection between the sub and equalizer.
If you pass this test, next try using your equalizer to
only eliminate the frequencies that give the ‘boomy’ sound. Don’t try to reinforce your lower frequencies—just cut the overemphasized ones.
See if the hum reoccurs. If it does, since you are only decreasing the levels of certain frequencies, you can suspect that you have a faulty equalizer.
But assume that the hum has not returned. Now you can try boosting the lower frequencies and see what happens. If at some point the hum reappears, you can just back off the boost a bit and you will be set.
Good luck and let us know the outcome.
