I saw this thing in Popular Science or something a long time ago. I wouldn't mind hearing it to see what it sounds like and how it performs.

The thing that surprised me is that it says it would even eliminate your subwoofer. How is that possible from such small drivers?

combined surface area. The Bose 901 only has 4" drivers, but it can still put out bass I would only expect out of tens or twelves. The difference is that there are none of them. The Pioneer has tons of little 2" things so it's got lots of combined displacement.

I am very suspicious of the claims being made. I think this concept may have been attempted before in the home theater world... A single point source sounds very familiar...

Ummm, there's a typo (malapropism) in the Niro page, and a rather funny one:

Quote:
There is no right, left or rear speaker, but a miraculously simple yet ingenuously designed sound system.

I think ingenuously was meant to be ingeniously, and they have contradictory meanings, and not to the benefit of the intended statement.

As for the Panasonic, well I'd have to hear it before making any comments, but it sounds too good to be true. Surface area alone does not mean these drivers are capable of 20Hz, so I don't know about getting rid of the sub, but it seems plausible for the rest of the speakers.
