Rear spreakers clapping - in-ceiling Sonances
I've got in-ceiling rear speakers Sonance Symphony connected to Nakamichi AV-10 for HT setup. I connect them to the front channels when I listen to music together with the pair of fronts B&W 602s. Unfortunately I can't crank up the sound in music setup (and I'm talking not even a third of a turn of the volume knob on the receiver!) and practically stopped using Sonances as rears as any loud movie effect will have the speakers clap! B&Ws are doing fine, and the only indication of the volume being too loud is the sound starts getting distorted. This does not happen with Sonances - they just clap making me worry they're going to tear! Needless to say I tried setting all the speakers to "SMALL", which did not help.
The retailer replaced one of my Sonance speakers but again it was not the particular speaker problem. What else could it be?
My setup:
Nakamichi AV-10
B&W 602 S2 fronts and B&W CC6 center
Sonance Symphony 623TR rears
Just ordered Adire Rava 12' sub
