... are JBL Studio's considered "bright" or "warm"?
|
I would say neutral, ... Sound & Vision Magazines Objective Benchmark for the JBL S38 was ...
Frequency Response: 80 to 20 kHz ±3.8 dB**
... and the speaker graph indicated starting around 9 kHz, the frequency start a gradual downward slope to 20 kHz -3.8 dB.
**Frequency response was averaged over a ±30-degree window, with double weight given to the most common listening angle, 30 degrees.
So, the JBL & HK combination should be fine!!!
I use
six JBL S26's*** (w/JBL S-Center &
SVS 25-31PCi) with my Yamaha RX-V995 and
Yamaha RX-V1300, and all my usual once or twice a month Friday NITE DVD family/friends crowd loves the
'better' than the local Cinema Theater Sound!!!

(the better local DD/DTS-5.1/6.1 Cinema Century Theaters use JBL's

)

It's important to keep in mind that the JBL system measured very flat in the lab; in fact, it had the flattest response of any ensemble in the roundup.
Overall, the JBL center was very impressive for its size and displayed excellent impact with onscreen information.
I recommend the JBL ensemble for people who tend to listen to their music flat, with no enhancements on bass or treble. The JBL Studio ensemble offers excellent bang for the buck for those who are looking to get their feet wet in home theater.
