really cheap speakers

im looking for some really cheap speakers to use in the living room. right now, im going to keep my regular ht equipment in my room so i can use it when i play guitar. however, my roommate is bringing a cheap stereo receiver.. so i figured we'd compliment it with a cheap pair of speakers hahah.

by cheap i really mean cheap. like klh/jensen cheap. like under 100 cheap.

i'm not using it for good sound.. more as a source of stereo.

i don't really care about sound. if i want good sound, i can just go to my room hahah. the speakers could be boombox quality, and i wouldn't care. i'm not going to be the primary listener.

thanks for the suggestion though.

If you don't care just go to radio shack. Or if you really do not care check out Ebay. I did a quick search and there is a bunch of stuff that can be had for a dollar.

C-City has a couple of different bookshelf speakers for $15... not sure if that was the pair or per, didn't look that close. I believe one was "Duel" brand and the other might have been Sony. Definately boombox quality. Not a GOOD boombox, mind you. On the other hand, if you want to step up to something that's borderline acceptable, there are some Yamaha speakers at Best Buy which go for around $40/pair which aren't awful, and it might cut down the amount of bitching and moaning you're likely to hear.

CC was selling the Polk R15 for like $69/pr. Worth a look for the price.

CC is closing out the Jensen C-JR speakers at $9 each (!).

They have a 5" woofer and 1/2" tweeter with a bass-reflex port on the back.

They didn't sound as terrible as the price might indicate.

I picked up a pair for the office - we aren't allowed to have music there during the week but it's OK during weekend overtime.

If sound isn't an issue. Then I second just going to Rat Shack and getting whatever fifty bones gets there.

Can I offer an anti-shack viewpoint? IMO, while Radio Shack does have the cheapest, most poorly built crap but the problem is they don't have the cheapest prices. I say he'd do better with the Jensons, the Yamahas, the Duals,or anything else really. Again, IMO.
