Thoughts on a Bookshelf Monitor positioned horizontally as a center channel?

I am considering using an Energy Veritas V2.2 as a center channel. To make it work in my setup I would have to mount it sideways or horizontally above my RPTV just like a typical center channel. Any pros or cons as to the speaker orientation vs. a dedicated center that was designed to be mounted horizontally.

If you are using the V2.2 for your other speakers, then using it also for the center channel would probably be the best choice since you'll have tonal consistency.
However, you need to make sure that its magnetically shield.
And you might want to consider just placing it vertically and not lying it down on its side. It might look funny but you'll get better lateral dispersion so that people at the sides of your viewing area will be in a better position to accurately take in what the speaker is trying to convey. If you keep it verticaly, you might just want to tip or direct it downwards to the listening area using some rubber feet. But by all means try the different orientations and listen to what sounds best.

I have a built-in cabinet above my RPTV that has a cavity for a center mounted only horizontally. No magnetic issues. My main speakers are actualy 2.4's but a 2.2 will still mesh better than a 2.0C IMHO.

I think one of Energy's design goals is wide dispersion in general, and they subjectively seem to do pretty well in both the vertical and horizontal directions. I would think this would work OK. It would be nice to see some test data to see if my limited subjectove assessment is correct, but one of my dislikes is speakers that noticeably change as you stand up and sit down. I know they all change to some extent, but the Energy's seem to be fairly resilient to off-axis changes.
