B&W speakers $1500-2000 and others!!

I am looking for 5 speaker HT system and subwoofer around $1500-2000. Any ideas ? I have checked B&W 601 S3 .. they are costing around $1400-1500 and sound excellent to me. Anyone has experience with Bang & Olufson speakers ? Any other good speaker you might wanna suggest.

I would mainly use these for movies, music videos and regular telly.

Thanks

Other good choices around $1500 include, Aperion, Ascend Acoustics, Paradigm, Rockets, and Totem Dreamcatchers.

For a little more than the B&W setup, you could get a Paradigm Studio setup.

2 pairs of studio 20's....$1300
Studio Center Channel.....$500
Ps-1000 Sub...............$500

That would be $2300 MSRP and you should get it down to very near $2k. If possible I would upgrde to the PW-2200 sub but that would add about $250-300 more. I wouldn't pick the Pardigm monitor line over the B&W, but I would spend the extra for the Paradigm Studio speakers. Studio v.3 should be out in the fall. You may find some V.2 Studios discounted a bit more late this summer.

My brother's budget was lower than yours (at 1,000). He went with a pair of 601's for the mains, a pair of 600 for surround and the LCR60 for center. Retail on these were $1,150, but the dealer let it go for $1,050.

With your budget of up to 2K, with some haggleing you should be able to get:
Mains 602's at $600/pair
Center LCR600 at $500
Surrounds 601's at $450/pair

Total of $1,550 retail.

You should be able to get about 10%-15% off the entire set if you purchase all at once. My brothers didn't take much effort to bring down the price.

Four B&W 601s, a CC6, and a HSU VTF-2 sub should run you under $1500. This will be my new setup as soon as I get the sub =D =D =D

My buddy went with 601s all around, LCR60 center channel and the 600 sub, all for about $1,900. He's extremely pleased with his setup.
Although I have higher end equipment, I think my friend did a good job purchasing quality equipment on a budget.

PSB 5T, subsonic 6, 9C and a pair of 2B or 3LCR's for rears should run in the $1400-$1600 range online and probably are a better deal than the B&W's

please note that I own B&W DM series...

as for B&O stuff, its more of a lifestyle product...kind of like plasmas not being the best picture quality in its price range, still good, but you pay for its style and convenience...

Rich

B&W DM605S2 x 2 & LCR6S2, Rotel RSX 1055 & RC955, Denon DV 1600, Marantz 4000OSE, Panasonic PT56wx51 (I think, who cares, its a TV)

\"Aren\'t you going to kiss her goodbye?\"
\"No.\"
