Well, I had another good DVD Day(TM) yesterday, and managed to pick up all new releases. I got Last Exile vol. 3, Matrix Revolutions, Puni Puni Poemy, and TeXhnolyze vol. 1. And of course, just to get that karmic balance back, we're offline again at home, and I spent an hour on the phone with Qwerst (Qwest) talking to their clueless tech support guy about trying to get my gateway to work . I did manage to watch Puni Puni Poemy, though. It was certainly an interesting way to spend an hour, and there were quite a few good laughs. However, this series is definitely not for everyone. If you couldn't get enough of Excel Saga, PPP is ES turned up to 11, and you'll probably like it. If you merely liked ES, you may like PPP, but I would recommend that you borrow or rent it first. If you didn't like ES, or just thought it was ok, then PPP is not for you. The same goes for anyone who doesn't like too much sex and/or vulgarity. I give it a 'B-'.

John.

Haven't had much to say lately. Things just have been a bit hectic and I haven't had the time to watch much of anything . I did pick up Last Exile volume 3 over the weekend (apparently some mall-based DVD store puts things out a few days early...). I am very tempted by Tehxnolyze but I just can't justify the expense to my wife right now. I am figuring out how I'm going to afford the Wolf's Rain box when it comes out in June - summer is pretty tight for us, especially since there doesn't appear to be any summer school for my wife to teach.

My DVD Collection - very outdated

Woo:

I know what you mean. I've still got The West Wing season 1, from Xmas no less :b, plus His and Her Circumstances vols. 4-5, Najica Blitz Tactics vol. 3, Last Exile vol. 3, TeXhnolyze vol. 1, and Matrix Revolutions to watch. Plus, with the Anime Challenge, I still have bunches of series and movies to rewatch.

I did notice, however, that the number of series I've finished so far this year (16) is equal to all the series I finished in 1999-2001 .

Heh JohnAD, you do NOT want to know my anime backlog. It is large. But my live action backlog of unwatched dvds is like 300+. SO that is comforting.

mwahahah.

The most I've ever had come at once the Saber Marionette J: Ultimate Collection... 14 discs. A close second was TRSI's two Magic Knight Rayearth bundles (seasons 1+2)... 12 discs

Woo:

Ok, I don't feel so bad . I'm pretty good about sitting down and watching new purchases, plus my wife would probably kill me if I started getting so many that I couldn't keep up .

I don't know why everyone hates DB/DBZ so much
Mainly because it's repetitive, stupid, and gives anime a bad reputation.

I'm really hoping someone licenses Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live-action. It's soooo good
That series has a snowball's chance in hell of making it to the US. Now that series is fucking CHEESY!!!!

Well, the biggest amount of DVDs I've ever gotten in one shipment is 6. Of course, that was when I ordered my Cowboy Bebop bundle from Amazon.

Tony, I know for a fact you've only seen one episode (you've seen a whole episode? wow *sounds of one hand clapping*)... after episode 8 or so, the girls really got the hang of things and the show now runs a little less "cheesy" as you called it. Gotta remember, this was these girls' first time acting.

The show is now as good or better than the anime/manga for the series and is on episode 25 (and still ongoing). I'm not kidding.

Which you haven't even watched past the second disc of... :p)
