I am shocked no one has mentioned how great Paranoia Agent Vol 2 is! (or have they and I just missed it?)

I picked up the series solely based on the buzz I saw here around vol 1, you'd think it sucked or something!
Anyway, I just watched Vol 2 last night and loved it, it was just awsome...really looking forward to see where the story is going to go.
Also in the midst of watching ROD TV vol 4 and then 5, and I have Samauri Champloo waiting for me.
I've really really enjoyed ROD too, Dave doesn't like it so much though, not sure why...it's pretty damn awsome. Love the opening themes to both ROD and Paranoia Agent...
I think they are both highlight releases for the year of 05...any other takes?
BTW: Haven't seen Champloo yet but I'm told that's good also!

I'll wait for all of Champloo to be available in a set and buy it that way. Same goes for Tenchi GXP and OAV3. I just can't pony up for individual volumes anymore. Way too expensive.

Wednesday was the semiannual Coin Quiz and Bingo Game for members of NI [an international coin-collectors' group I am part of, which holds monthly meetings for local members in Dallas]. I picked up as a prize a Japanese brass [?] coin, an oblong "value 100" of the Tempou era [1830-1844]. The coin of that era was bad enough that "Tempou-sen" is a byword for worthlessness to this day, but this hundred-cash piece is rather nice. Other than that, really nothing Japan-related for me this past week. I am, as usual, waiting on some LDs...

The local Best Buys haven't been carrying it. Also, since I'm so far behind in my viewing, I haven't been in a hurry to pick it up at just any price.

Just got back from Katsucon today. (Well, that's relative, since it is a commute-a-con for me.) New hotel for me. Good thing about it is that it is closer to Metro, and it was closer to eats. Bad things were that both hotels the con was in are currently under renovation, therefore making getting around rather interesting. Also, Crystal City shuts down at 7PM pretty much, and what was open ran out of food.

Comments on what I saw.

Mirage Of Blaze: Bunches of angsty bishonen. It was ok. Wife liked it, tho.

Overman King Gainer: Again, ok. Wasn't able to draw a bead on the characters yet.

Chrono Crusade: Rather enjoyable. Has potential. The dub is highly annoying, particularly the actress doing Sister Rosette.

Scrapped Princess: Best thing I saw all con. Great stuff.

The Cat Returns: B level Studio Ghibli, but that's better than most. Definitly a keeper.

Galaxy Angel Z: Pretty wacky stuff. Looks like a set of 15 minute scetches. Don't know if I'd own it, but I'd watch again.

Jason

Stacey:

You just missed it . Of course, it did come out last month. You can bet I'll be all over volume three when it comes out next month (3/8).

Just a bit of news I picked up over at ANN. It looks like Media Blasters has picked up the rights to the Oh! My Goddess TV series.

I normally don't participate too much in this thread, which is somewhat odd given my signature below, but I couldn't let my excitement go unpronounced, so I thought I'd pop in here and shout it:

I'm finally going to own my favorite film of all time tomorrow! 'Bout darned time, Disney, but colored me pleased you're finally releasing Kaze no tani no Nausicaa - in OSL and OAR, too, no less!

I saw the TV commercial the other night [last time I watched TV ]. !!! Of course, Disney's ad department didn't even mention that it's not a per se Disney film, or that it's been consistently rated as Best Animated Film of All Time and one of the Ten Best Films Of All Time period in surveys since it first came out... but still, !!!

PS

Watched my first anime in a while. Me and Stacey sat down and watched disk 1 of Full Metal Alchemist. I haven't seen this since I watched the first 2 episodes fansubbed quite a while back. I didn't find the dub of the same quality as Fruits Basket, but Funimation is definitely improving. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

In turn I watched Chrno Crusade with Stacey. Seems OK so far. Don't mind the dub, the person doing Rosette is fine with me (trivia: she also did the voice of Menchi in Excel Saga )

Both suffer a bit from the typical anime syndrome (big over the top explosion in Chrno Crusade does't kill them, same sort of thing here and there in FMA) but seem to be quality shows.

P.S. -
$39.99 for the Full Metal Alchemist Disc 1 and box @ Media Play/Suncoast, and triple points on the Replay card is about $6 in gift cards back = approx $32.99 + tax. So don't mock those of us who shop there sometimes it is a good deal.

Matheson- "There are probably some who'll say that by doing this, we are interfering with their culture."

Gideon - "Probably. Screw them."

Dave:

Yeah, it is, especially when you can hit the triple-points days several times in a month. I haven't been buying so much lately, but tomorrow when I go to make my purchases, I'll have three coupons with me .

Woo:

I LOVED the Shamanic Princess. I think the last half definitely is a big payoff for the rather slow and confusing start. It seems not too many people like this one but its one of my favorites! That reminds me, need to watch it again...

I finished the Suzaku half of Fushigi Yugi and loved it although I HATED the ending. Definitely right - it ends on a HUGE cliffhanger so I bought Seiryu right away... hope it gets here soon because I'm really antsy to see the rest of this!

Rewatching Fruits Basket in the meantime..

Nausicaa today! One of my all time fav movies... going to pick it up from Walmart tomorrow.... woohoo!

Anime Collecting: Inu Yasha, Scrapped Princess

Last Purchases: Kaliedo Star Amazing Collection, Mezzo DC, Mezzo Thinpak, Neon Genesis Evangelion Platinum thinpak, Inu Yasha S2, Angelic Layer, Super Gals! Ironclad Collection, My Dear Marie
