I've read the back of the Wolfs Rain disks and I'm still not sure what it's about. Can someone give a brief description?

Andrew:

Wolf's Rain takes place in a future earth/dying earth setting where most people believe that wolves have been extinct for a long time. In fact, wolves have been living among us, being able to assume a human form when needed. Our protagonists, once we get to the main story, are looking for Paradise, and for Cheza, who will help them get there. They have to deal with 'Nobles', who use their flying machines to fight each other, plus a number of more average folks. I'm really enjoying it so far, and recommend it. It should also be noted that the episodes in volume four are all recap episodes, so you can safely skip it. They're not bad for recaps, but my wife didn't bother to watch them.

John.

Quick chime in...

From the little bit of Wolf's Rain I've managed to see on Cartoon Network, it looks to be a very good quality series. I've been meaning to pick it up for some time, and sometime during the year I will.

I've also seen a couple more episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist on CN. Dang, I thought I would be able to resist this one, but the episodes I saw were pretty good and so I'll probably be picking it up. This first release is 13 volumes or something?

One that has had the opposite reaction for me is GITS:SAC. I haven't seen many of them and do have the first volume on dvd, but the little I have seen has not drawn me in. I currently do not plan on continuing to buy the series.

One I will admit to having some curiosity about is Ikki-Tossen (sp?). I don't generally go for fanservice, but this one looks like it has some nice character designs and at least an entertaining story to go with it. For those who have seen it, this is nothing like hentai is it? That would be a turn off.

My DVD Collection - very outdated

Amazingly, John hasn't asked the eternal Monday question...

Since tomorrow is DVD Day (TM), what if anything are you getting?

Myself, I MIGHT get myself Samurai Champloo, however I'll probably hold off a few months to see if it comes to Adult Swim.

Tony:

Actually, that's the eternal Tuesday question . Anyway, I'll be picking up Samurai Champloo vol. 1, and probably a couple other disks. I've still got a gift card left over from Xmas, plus a few coupons & such.

I actually finally got to buy Saikano Vol 4...really looking forward to this one. Also Please Twins Vol 2...seems to be a fun series.
Nothing of note to pick up this week beyond Chrono Crusade Vol 3, I'm undecided about this series right now...seems pretty good but it keeps reminding me of Kiddy Grade in that "This is a really good B series but certainly not an A series" sort of way? Any other thoughts??

Dave and I are actually going through Mahoromatic and Wolf's Rain 1 episode per night...I've seen all of Maho and up to disk 4 of Wolf's Rain so...I'm excited to get up to something I haven't seen yet! I have high hopes for the series really getting good...

Here's a question I've been wondering since I've kinda fallen out of the loop abit...:
What series are you looking forward to collecting in 2005?

For me so far I know it's Scrapped Princess, for Dave it's FMA....
Is there anything else of note I should be keeping an eye on?

Ikki Tousen is a warped version of The Twelve Kingdoms set in modern times with warriors that wear beads (magatama?) that change with their skill level. It was originally done by Doujinshi artist(s), so lots and lots of fanservice and panty-shots. So far, the story at two volumes isn't all that engaging, but it's pretty to look at.

Samurai Seven, Samurai Champloo, and Paranoia Agent along with Stellvia and Stratos 4 will be most of what I plan to collect. If some cheap series box sets or deals come along, I'll grab those too.

Oh - if you like sports anime, or are interested in a well done sports anime, try Hajime no Ippo or Fighting Spirit. Boxing was never so much fun.... ^_~

Samurai Champloo is the only series you need to care about this year.
