I agree with you JohnAD. I have yet to see Saikano, but I have to say that of all the anime I have seen, Now and Then, Here and There is probably the most depressing one. At least Grave of the Fireflies is vaguely comforting in that it allows for a emotional release (as in makes you cry/weep). NTHT is not at all forgiving in that respect. And thus is a chilling portrait of the human condition as any...

Exactly .
All:
A mixed day for anime. I picked up Azumanga Daioh vol. 4. I also watched two disks this evening. First was TeXhnolyze vol. 3. It seems like it's getting more into a story that makes some sort of sense. This one will definitely require a rewatch. I also watched Happy Lesson OVA. Nothing special, but there were some laughs. 'C+', it was OK, and fans of harem shows may enjoy it.

In the middle of watching Wolf's Rain V2. This one is really good in my book...it has the potential to lose it though so I'll have to keep watching.
I have Tex. V3 at home, have yet to sit down and watch it though.
DVD Tuesday today I picked up Twelve Kingdoms vol 7, I haven't watched all of six yet though, the more this series goes on I feel like I almost lose the story between the releases. I already feel like I need to start over again and watch it from the beginning!

Well, my most anticipated DVD release of all time is finally up for preorder on TRSI...
Mobile Suit ZETA Gundam - Limited Edition Boxset
Quote:
|
Contains all 50 episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam: Zeta in one limited edition DVD Box Set! Features special Thinpak packaging, a 48-page Zeta Gundam booklet, a Zeta Gundam poster and 9 collectible Zeta Gundam Figures/Pencil Shapeners!
|
Oh, and here's a current $9 off $129 TRSI coupon that you can use on this order (expires today though!): "shinji26"
Comes to $126.89 shipped with Got Anime discount... quite a deal if you ask me for possibly the greatest anime (and definitely the greatest Gundam) ever made. Order ASAP, as this is going to be an EXTREMELY low run (IE: 5,000 units) I know my order is in
Finally it is possible to watch the lead-in the Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack on DVD! This is one reason my Cowboy Bebop Perfect Sesions is on eBAY right now (currently at $258... maybe ending a little higher than that)

Damn, couldn't order online, and had to order by phone. Had to re-sign up for gotanime as well. meh - I got a few things this order:
Zeta Gundam Limited Ed
Master Keaton Bundle (1-8) for $100
Stratos 4#1 with Artbox for $21
Jungle De Ikou $13
hmm
Was planning to watch RahXephon 3 last nite, but read manga - Rurouni Kenshin 1-6 - instead. HIGHLY recommended - especially if you've seen the show. The Bonus (O-Make) at the end of the issues are downright hilarious (there's a Hiko-Seijuro Omake - a HIKO OMAKE, dagnabbit!), and the first 6 volumes cover the entire first season (As I said, you will not see many of the filler done for the TV series.) Can't wait until the Next One, as it marks the beginning of Kyoto Arc... And the introduction of a favorite character, Saito Hajime, who lives (in teh anime and manga) to the credo of Aku-soku-zan (Evil-speed-slay/death => Slay evil immediately).
Oh I started reading around 1050pm, and finished around 2am. Love this stuff...

Rob,
I've never seen any of Zeta Gundam, but my preorder is in
Hey, did you watch your Sailor Moon S box set yet? Did you have some trouble with the final 2 episodes on Disc 2? Mine had some video catching while the audio continued to play. No scratches or damage visible. DVD rot? Perhaps bad transfer?
Woo,
Yes, volume 6 of RK was quite good. I am eagerly awaiting the next volume coming out sometime this month
John,
I am one of those people who talk and laugh about the movie, but then that has a lot to do with every movie coming out sucking horribly. I also only pay the student price of 6$ per movie, so its all good. I often laugh at parts that no one else is laughing at. I am a first class ass hole, and i'll be the first one to admit it. hehehe
Moving past that, if I don't like Zeta Gundam I'm going to kill you rob
Mike

Heh.
Mike Morris:
If you have ever seen any of the U.C. Gundam, such as the Gundam Movie Trilogy and Char's CounterAttack, then you get an inkling of what Zeta is gonna be like (well, I am talking a bit outta my butt here, since I've never seen Zeta.) Basically, U.C. Gundam is the older but more realistic and gritty of the Gundam franchise. The mecha are NOT invincible or world destroying, as are the mecha of Gundam Wing or most other A.C. Gundam titles. The focus - in general - is on the effects of war on individuals involved, the ambiguity of good/evil in a war, and the rivalries, losses, and sacrifices one makes in war. No bishonen stuff per se here, as Gundam Wing was.
Not to mention Gundam is a flagship title for marketing action figurines, model kits, etc for Bandai.

Michael:
I think I'll have to divert some of my minions from disrupting James' shipments to come over and have a little 'chat' with you. They need their lightsaber practice .
Woo:
I haven't been collecting as much as I used to. Here is my 'Collecting and Active' list:
GTO
Ai Yori Aoshi
Battle Royale
Kare Kano
A.I. Love You
Remote
my 'Collecting and Need to Start Up Again' list:
Inu Yasha
Dark Angel
Silent Mobius
my 'Probably Won't Buy Any More' list:
Neon Genesis Evangelion
I'll probably start to buy more manga in the new year, since I will be taking a two-month break from anime after this year's Anime Challenge.
All:
I started the new month with an unusual choice: Twin Angels. Not a favorite, but certainly an eye-opener to get me ready for my trip. I'll have to endure no anime until probably Tuesday .

Heh - Hentai. Not my cup o' tea.
JohnAD:
No problem. Take the break, and enjoy it.
Let me say that if you lived within a short distance, I'd love to have you and your SO over for anime/movie viewings. And manga readings. But alas, You are THERE, and I am HERE, and the twain ne'er shall meet without spending on airfare and transportation.
Anyhow, My manga to-collect list is a bit long, and has some seriously long series. But I love the stuff. And I gotta give up gaming. Anime/manga seem to take up more of my time than games.
