Kenneth:
Occaasionally, you will see some of the big name stores announce disks before they are 'officially' announced. I would wait until you hear an official announcement, since the preannouncement details frequently change. Considering the shape that Manga's in right now, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets pushed back or dropped.
Alanna:
I'll second Woo and Dave's recommendation of Escaflowne. While I like the movie more than either of them, the series is still better, and is an anime classic.
John.

It's strange, if you notice the distributor it is listed as Anchor Bay....

I think I read somewhere that Anchor Bay (or the company that owns Anchor Bay) was going to buy Manga. I guess it must have happened, if this is real. (?)

Anchor Bay DOES own Manga... so they'd be using them for their distro channels (ie: to send the DVD to Amazon).
With the new Ghost in the Shell series out, I wouldn't be surprised to see this as either a re-transfer with 5.1 sound (hahahah!!!) or more likely just a re-release with new coverart to tie into the new movie (GitS2:Innocence)

I am going to have to watch a lot of anime tonight or the way the University is screwing me over is going to give me an ulcer. Here's a tip: avoid places where the closed-minded faculty likes to tag people randomly as dangerous characters without cause. AAAARGH!!!

Since this is the Advanced Anime thread of the Home Theatre Forum, and not the Advanced Libel Thread of the Bitching Forum, I'll spare you the gory details. Suffice to say that I'm totally screwed with respect to my degree plan and my whole future because of some people with no moral character whatsoever, who just happen to be in charge.
On another note, I would love to acquire the Escaflowne series some day. The little I saw of it in the mangled U.S. broadcast version was very intriguing. I think I asked earlier about the "longer versions" of certain episodes which appear on the Japanese LDs; does anybody know these?

I had a busy anime day today. With money from my recent bonus, I picked up Burn Up Excess Complete Collection, FLCL vols. 1-3, Happy Lesson OVA, and Saiyuki vols. 2-3. These purchases put me over the 800 mark for my total collection, over the 400 mark for my anime collection, and just over 50% anime! I also marathoned Tenchi Universe. I'm thinking I like it a little more than the last time I rewatched it, but it's still on the B-/B cusp.
