No prob. Hopefully, my free flowing review is helpful to some of you. I mean between our various collections, we (the members of this board) do own quite a bit o' anime.

Alanna: There are now 18 YGO reviews, and still there are none that are positive!

Just for comparison: Gigli has 7 positive reviews out 149 total.

Woo: Good job saying between all of us. Because if you said each of us has a lot of anime, then, wow, you'd be wrong.

Haven't seen this reported here:

Maison Ikkoku Box #4 will be out before the end of the year (November, I believe), but it will apparently only be sold through the Viz website and www.rightstuf.com.

Watching .Hack now. I love the English dub- the translation is very literal so about 1/2 of the dialogue makes no sense. Kind of funny.

I wonder if the voice actors while reading this stuff ever think, "What the hell does that mean?". Then they must think, "Well, I'm getting paid anyways so..."

How are the subtitles on that? Do they make sense?

I'll have to check out the subs later, although I read somewhere it was no better- it still makes no sense.

I'm actually enjoying .Hack because the presentation is awesome- anamorphic transfer looks pristine, and the English voice actors are very good. It's even more entertaining because it really makes no sense- very surreal, and (unintentionaly) funny.

I didn't watch too much today. I got through Rurouni Kenshin vols. 16-18. Some really good episodes, including the 'Son of God' arc (especially the end). I probably could have watched more, but Im also trying to watch the Olympics, as well.

Eric: hmm, I don't remember many people enjoying .Hack from this thread. In fact, I remember that Lutter calls it .Hack//SUCK or something similar to that.

John: I guess I'm not the only one in the thread who really enjoys watching the Olympics. I like watching the smaller events, like Table Tennis (Holy crap they play fast! ). Also, did you happen to see Michael Phelps in the swimming last night? Man, he's really impressive.

Tony, .Hack is one of those non-sensical animes that you have to take on its own merits. I admit it's a failed attempt, but at least they're trying something new. I've seen worse- Try watching Soul Hunter- now that's bad.

BTW- The subs make no sense either.

Eric, is it worse than Dragonball Z or Yu-Gi-Oh?

Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh, it made 9.3 million at the box office this past weekend, therefore taking over Princess Mononoke's #6 spot on the top grossing anime films in the US of all-time. But, that's really nothing at all, since anime is bascially box office poison.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/genres/chart/?id=anime.htm

Am I the only one here who thinks Innocence will fail to break 3 million? Hell, I might even go out on a limb and say that it makes less than 1 million.
